annual report
Our ThanksOn behalf of the Board, Corporators and Staff of the Patten Free Library, thank you for making the Library the enriching community treasure that it is.
Last September the Board of Trustees signed off on a 3-year strategic plan designed to address the changing needs of its constituents, reach out to new audiences, and to streamline communications within its community. The plan calls for the creation of new services for the teen population, the expansion of adult programming, the extension of Library hours, and a more robust fundraising program. In the following pages we will share some highlights of the plan’s progress.
You, your neighbors, and the businesses you patronize every day have played a major role in the success of these efforts. The new summer teen reading program had the very generous support of 30 local businesses. The annual fundraising dinner posted a 30% increase over last year due to a record number of attendees and donors to the silent auction. Annual fund donations increased by 6%. And through the generosity of the Davenport Trust Fund and an anonymous foundation, a committee of board, staff and community members worked to rebrand the Library to accurately reflect its evolving role in the community – leading to a new look for the Library’s annual report, and soon a redesigned web site and e-newsletter. Your Library is on the move.
Thank you for your support, whether you attended your local town meeting to vote in favor of municipal funding for the Library, purchased a library card, attended a fundraising event, or made a donation. You are the reason the Library exists.
The Patten Free Library is your library – more than you’ll ever know.
Brian Verville, Chairman, Board of Trustees
