Residence: Konstanz, Germany and London, UK

Birth: 19th November, 1967, France

Research

My main research interests are focused on the modelling and development of artistic skills for robotic agents.

This research relies on one hand on research into perception and cognition and on the other hand on the novel

use and combination of current research in computer vision, robotics, computational creativity and aesthetics. I

believe that artistic skills offer interesting trans-disciplinary research challenges. From experience I know this

research area offers a wide range of dissemination/communication opportunities. I see artistic abilities as a

mean to increase robots' social acceptance, and increasing affective bounds with humans. Furthermore in the

context of domestic/companion robotics it is foreseeable that artistic talents will be high-value luxury skills for

robot owners to purchase.

A child and a future Nao draw interactively on a single sheet of paper placed on the floor. The child stops drawing and ask "Nao, please draw me a sheep."
