Introduction - Patient Positioning and Coils

QS4-52789v2

Echelon MRl Syslem Pa1ien1 Posilioning and Coils Manual is one of a group

of manuals designed to guide you through the operation of the Hitachi Echelon

MRI System. Echelon MR1 System Patient Positioning and Coils Manual details

the patient screening and positioning processes and the selection and pos itioning

of radio frequency (RF) coils.

Th is manual is your guide to working with patients. It explains the essential

e lements of patient screening and prov ides basic recommendations for your

facility's patient screening policies and procedures. It a lso guides you in

preparing and positioning patients for the scan ning process. Chapter I gives you

the information you need to achieve three other important goals:

• Dispelling patient misconceptions about magnetic resonance imaging (MRl)

• A lleviating patient concerns about the procedure

• Minimizi ng patient discomfort during the exam

Chapters 2 and 3 explain how to properly position a patient in each of the coils

avai lable for use with the Echelon MRI System. The illustrations and text are

designed to guide you in the proper use of each coil.
