PASTOR’S MESSAGE 3

On this Sunday we can contemplate the large crowd trying to have a little contact with Jesus, since they knew that he can give them health and relief. Jairus, the synagogue official also joined the people because he thought, this is last resort that I have for my daughter to get well, he did not image that his daughter was already dead, that was the message conveyed to him. However, Jesus reassure him not to be afraid, just have faith. The Lord Jesus comes to us always when we call upon Him. At time we experience sufferings, trials, and we don’t know what to do, Jesus assures us, don’t be afraid, just have faith. Faith in Christ is what leads us on the dark of suffering, He is our light where we walk. He is the support where we may lean. Why then to be afraid.?

The Fortnight for Freedom: The annual campaign for freedom to Bear Witness will take place from June 21 to July 4, 2015, a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of per-secution by political power—St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. The theme of this year's Fortnight will focus on the "freedom to bear witness" to the truth of the Gospel. This is a moment where all catholics have to stand up and bear witness to our faith and defend the right of conscience both private and public. The opening pray for the memorial of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More encourages us never to be afraid but to bring high up our faith: “O God, who in martyrdom have brought true faith to its highest expression, graciously grant that, strengthened through the intercession of Saints John Fisher and Thomas More, we may confirm by the witness of our life the faith we profess with our lips…”

New assignments: The IVE provincial has appointed Fr. Octavio to be a Pastor in St. Francis of Assis in Chicago. Fr. Cortez will be leaving soon for his new assignment. At the same time Fr. Andrew Whiting, IVE will be the new As-sociate Pastor in our parish and also will be teaching in the Seminary. We welcome Fr. Whiting and say goodbye to Fr. Octavio for his years of ministry in Saints Peter and Paul and in the Seminary.

Block Party Invitation: On this Sunday we celebrate our patron saints Peter and Paul. The two pillars of the Catho-lic Church and also the two columns where the whole family of our parish rest. What a wonderful moment could be to come to share this Sunday afternoon by sharing a meal, recalling memories and play. There will be a lot of fun as we come to give thanks to God for all these years we have been blessed. Remember, the party starts at 4:00 pm.

Summer Vacation: From tomorrow Monday June 29th till July 21st. I will be vacationing in Argentina. This will give me the opportunity to visit my siblings, nieces and nephews and my religious family. Please pray for me that eve-rything will go well. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Second collection: In the second collection today, we are supporting Pope Francis in his charitable works. The Pe-ter’s Pence Collection is taken up worldwide to support the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. This is an opportunity to join with our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and be a witness of charity to our suffering brothers and sisters. Please be generous in today’s collection.

JUNE 28, 2015 4

Construction Projects Widmer Shot-crete Solutions, from Lak-eville, continues to install the new limestone looking carved concrete wall over the existing limestone wall between the upper and lower back parking lots. The old wall has been deteri-orating at an accelerated rate the last couple of years. This project will take about three weeks. Schwab Washing from Eagle Lake has been cleaning and sealing the outside columns on the Church and East and North side of the Fitzgerald Building. These projects are being paid for out of our savings account that is funded from generous bequests and part of the rental income from Kato Public Charter School.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
