"Bobby Velthuis, a Sophomore in our High School program took

a crucial step toward earning his eagle scout badge. How did he

do it? He directed a project with a team of 10+ to add a decora-

tive stage background to the SCPC Student Center. Made up of

cedar shake shingles, this background also has 12 crosses hid-

den throughout its design. He did this with no cost to the

church! If you haven't seen it yet, you can stop by during office

hours or peek into the Student Center door. Thanks Bobby!"

SUNDAY • JUNE 7

This year will be our 7th annual Inside/Outside Ministry Fair.

This event is a time to remind all of us that we are called by

God every day in every place to serve. Sunday, June 7, at

10:00 am and noon on our patio, we will have approximately

35 ministries represented by members of our congregation.

Pick up an Inside Outside booklet, stroll the patio and chat

with your fellow church members about how God has been

working in and through them in the various ministries to

which God has called them. You might even find a new way to

serve.

MORE BABY SHOWER PHOTOS HERE

1st CEB MARINE WIVES BABY SHOWER by Carol Peters

In April, SCPC sponsored the annual Baby Shower for the wives of the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion as

a part of our Marine Ministry Outreach Program.

This is my second year coordinating the event and I continue to be amazed at how God has blessed this

ministry. This year was the biggest shower yet as we served 32 Marine wives along with their guests

and spouses. Their appreciation for our effort was revealed not only in their “thank yous”, but in their

sheer delight in the showering of honor and attention. They expressed their gratitude that strangers

would be so generous and caring.

We also had our own “battalion of volunteers.” There were about 50 people directly involved in the

shower as hostesses, greeters, servers, decorators, food providers, gift distributors, equipment

movers and set up, nursery help as well as speakers and entertainers. These helpers were of all ages

from our teen members and young moms to some of our oldest members! Many were members of

our church and many were our neighbors and friends in the community. All felt a desire to help

others and a personal reward in coming together to share in the joy of the young wives and Marines.

Everyone’s gift of time, talent, effort or substance was needed and appreciated. God uses us all to do

his work.

DRAMATIC DECREASE IN NKHOMA/CHILENJE MALARIA

Fighting as one, Y-Malawi related individuals, churches, and partners have rallied

together to end malaria deaths in Nkhoma/Chilenje! As the single largest killer of

children and adults in Nkhoma/Chilenje, we had to do something! Our great

partners Nkhoma Hospital and World Vision united with others with their plans

that WE helped fund! Tens of thousands of malaria-stopping bed nets, giant

Indoor Residual Spraying program in villages, and robust supplies of testing kits

and treatments are having great effect!

Watch this video for an exciting update on our fight against this deadly mosquito

bite, as De. TerHaar of Nkhoma Hospital walks you through on of the hospital’s

children’s wards. Praise the Lord with us for this thrilling report!

Ministry Support update Spring of 2015 has been challenging for our

church. Ministry Support has carefully managed a tight budget, made significant cuts to

expenditures and are approaching a payoff to funds borrowed from dedicated accounts.

The continued giving in April and lowered expenses allowed for a surplus of $30,000 for

the month! Your commitment to our ministry is a great testimony to our shared faith in

the God who provides for all our needs. God continues to demonstrate how our gener-

osity brings His Kingdom into our lives.
