Believe...with Father Steve
Merry Christmas to you and to your family! This day is a day to rejoice and to celebrate in the
birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without His birth we have nothing. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Think back on
Christmas’ of yesteryear…what was your favorite gift you ever received? Now imagine if mom and
dad gave you absolutely nothing. What a tragic Christmas that would be. Without Jesus we have
NOTHING. We have no hope of salvation; we have no joy; we have no peace. But Jesus has come—
He has conquered sin and death and He has brought us joy, peace, and the possibility of salvation.
But we must come to Him, accept Him, and live for Him in order to receive this great gift of Heav-
en—though it is a free gift. Our Blessed Savior, Jesus Christ, did not have to become a man but
chose to. He chose to come for you, and for me. He became a baby to die on the cross to wipe away our sins.
As the world outside has lost its understanding of the meaning of Christmas, we as believers in the Lord Jesus
must strive to be bright examples of Jesus’ light in the world. That isn’t meant to be some pious platitude—that is
meant to be a reality. The culture at large has heard the Gospel message that Jesus is Lord and has chosen to deny
it and live lives contrary to the Christian faith. If we as faithful Catholics live the faith even more fully our world
can and will change.
--Family Traditions--
What are your family traditions for Christmas? Many of us have many different things we may do with our families
during the holiday season. One of ours is to sing the 12 Days of Christmas Song. Jesus too was born into a family.
He was not just planted on the Earth out of nowhere. But given a home with a mother and a father. Though our
family situations are different in so many ways, the holidays always seem to bring us together (either for better or
worse). This Christmas season as we gather together let's be mindful of praying as a family and invoking the name of
Jesus...especially before our meal.
I am also very cognizant of the fact that many of us do not enjoy the Christmas season at all. Primarily because it
reminds us of heartache and Christmas’ long ago when we had someone special in our lives. You especially will be on
my heart and in my prayers as I offer the Holy Sacrifice on Christmas Day.
--Thank you from the bottom of my heart--
A very special thank you to everyone who has expressed their love and concern for me. I am doing well, but I am
relying on your prayers. Thank you also for all of the cards and gifts that everyone has given to me—I am so grateful
for the love that you show to Jesus by loving me—your priest.
Please know of my prayers for each of you in a special way at Christmas. Not exactly knowing what the future may
hold for me, my health, and what God has in store for me I beg your prayers for me too. I love this parish so deeply
and will raise you all up in prayer as we move through this next chapter in our storied history.
In the Heart of Jesus and Mary,
Father Steve

Your Christmas Offering As we embark on these last few
weeks of the calendar year and pre-
pare for the Christmas Season, please
take a moment to pray about your
Christmas Offertory to Divine Grace
Parish. Please prayerfully consider a financial gift of
any denomination to Divine Grace Parish made in
thanksgiving to God for the grace and blessings He has
so generously provided to you and your family over the
past year. Your generosity enables the parish to
provide for the spiritual needs of its parishioners;
provide numerous ministries and services; as well as ,
provide outreach to the local community.
Like any organization, Divine Grace Parish incurs a
number of operating expenses such as utility bills;
property insurance; maintenance and repairs;
employee salaries, wages and benefits, such as health
insurance and retirement. Weekly offertory collections
in addition to parish fundraisers and your Christmas
Offertory/ Gift are the primary means by which the
parish covers its operating expenses.
Your Christmas Offertory / Gift to the parish
will not incur the usual 7.0% Archdiocesan
assessment. Therefore, 100% of your “Christmas
Offertory / Gift remains with Divine Grace Par-
ish.
When giving, please be sure to use your Christmas
Offertory Envelope or write Christmas Offertory / Gift
on an envelope and place in the offertory collection
basket until December 31st.
Once again, thank you for the continued support and
prayers for your parish.

continued support. The first "THANK
YOU" is for your support of the raffle
of our 5 themed baskets and a LA Z BOY. Joe Diaz,
Mike Yates, J Blackmore, Debbie O’Leary, and
Deanna Burke each won a basket. Brian O’Rourke won
the LA Z BOY. You purchased a lot of tickets. The
weather was against us but you still came out for us.
The second "THANK YOU" is for the
generous collection in November. The third
"THANK YOU" is for the generosity you have shown
toward the "GIVING TREE. “. All the gifts are in and
we are preparing for the delivery of those gifts to i5
families in our community. Of course, your generosity
was on display again. Our group appreciates the fact
that you are always there for us in our endeavors.
A "HEARTFELT THANK YOU” from us.

The Nativity of the Lord
Take a moment to contemplate the symbols of the sea-
son. The crèche tells us the Gospel stories: first from
Luke, which details the human birth in a lowly stable and
the angels' message to shepherds; and later from Mat-
thew, which describes the arrival of Magi who signify that
God's salvation extends to all. The angels stand as her-
alds of the good news, an emblem for each of us on this
solemn feast of our own duty to spread the message that
Christ is born and saves us from our sins. The tree stands
as a symbol of life, its green branches unfading even in
the winter cold, just as God's life remains in us even
though our human form should die. The wreath made of
evergreens reminds us that God is one, without beginning
or end. The candles recall the birth of him who is forever
the Light of the world. Today, we celebrate the fact that
God came to earth as a beautiful, innocent infant who re-
jects no one. We rejoice this day in the birth of Christ!
And tonight, we remember that Jesus Christ came into
this world quietly, humbly, and gracefully, an example of
how we should live our lives.
