Rebooting Easter And New Life Anyone who uses a computer knows the term reboot. This is the button a user pushes when the computer screen freezes. We click the reboot button that tells the computer to refresh, start over, and begin again. That’s right! Reboot means to begin again. It is to start over. This is a powerful metaphor for how God is at work in our lives, especially in the circumstances when we need to feel God’s grace and assurance. For persons outside the community of faith, this word of God’s grace offered as a fresh start or a new beginning is a life-changing moment. For those whose faith journey has always been within the community of faith, there is often a need to hit the
reboot or reset button and feel the breeze of a new fresh start. The Easter season is a time of celebrating all the ways in which resurrection is possible in our lives, a chance to reboot our life and start over! We can be in need of rising out of the depths of addiction, disconnection, crisis, and oppression–not just physically and literally, but also spiritually. What holds us back from the joy of life? What binds us, keeping us from the full-ness of who God created us to be? What keeps us down? Over these next weeks, our preaching theme will reboot addiction, disconnection, illness, crises, anxiety, and the experience of the Holy Spirit. April 30 Reboot: Addiction Psalm 121 May 7 Reboot: Disconnection John 14:18-28 May 14 Reboot: Illness Mark 5:24b-34 May 21 Reboot: Crisis Exodus 3:1-10; Psalm 146 May 28 Reboot: Anxiety Philippians 4:4-9 June 4 Reboot: Spirit Act 2:1-21 Friends, I invite you to worship in our worship services. It is never too late or too early to begin anew or to push the reboot sequence in our faith journey. To reboot during this season of Easter we can experience resurrection and new life in remarkable new ways. Grace and peace, Pastor Hyung-Suk Joe

Pray Day Monday
How exciting it is to know that Our
Heavenly Father longs to hear our
voice and eagerly waits for us to com-
mune with Him! What an honor and
privilege to come before Him on be-
half of our church family. Pray Day
Monday was initiated by the Church
Leaders to take one day per week to
specifically pray for our church leader-
ship, finances and ministries. We
know that prayer is a priority of all
Christians, but many times the
needs of the church are forgotten to
be included in our daily prayer life. So
the church leadership has asked the
church family to set aside a day that
the needs of the church may be lifted
up to the Lord. Please covet with the
church leaders to set aside Mondays to
earnestly seek the Lord for direction
and guidance concerning the workings
and needs of our church.

There is a possibility of Safe Sanctuary training before Vacation Bible
School if needed.
Please let Karen, the church secretary, know if you need trained. Previous
training before 2015 may not be valid anymore. Training beginning in 2015
is valid for 5 years. Only PA Act 33 and Act 34 clearances are valid. The
FBI
fingerprint clearance is also valid.
Safe Sanctuary does not stop with your clearances. You need to know how
to act and what to look for in children and
vulnerable adults. You also need to know how to protect yourself and your
organization from false claims like child abuse.
Even the mention of child abuse can ruin you for life. The training tells you
how to protect yourself and others.
Most important is all our children and vulnerable adults and especially you!

The Cross What does the Cross
mean to you? Do you pray to it? I
hope not as it is a symbol of what
God and Christ did for all of us.
We should always remember why
the Cross means so much to us.
Without God’s and Jesus’ love we
would not be able to communicate
with God or have eternal life. We all
have our sins forgiven by Jesus
dying on the Cross and being buried
and arising on the third day and
being seen by many people and then
ascending to heaven.
Now all we have to do is believe
these things and put Christ as our
Savior and Lord.
Remember to always pray to God
the Father in Jesus’ name!
Our Church’s Prayer Circle is now
operating using the One Call Tell All
system for prayer requests. Call
Carol See at 412 596-2930. We have
faithful and dedicated prayer
partners who know and believe in
the importance of prayer. We know
that prayer does work. If you have
questions please feel free to call me,
Carol See, anytime. May the Lord
bless this ministry.

Sick and Shut-In
Prayer of Abandonment Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures. I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul: I offer it to you, with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with bound-less confidence, for you are my Father. by Brother Charles de Foucauld

There are many disabilities such as
Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s,
Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular
Dystrophy and the list goes on.
Some are extremely disabling to ones
that are not out-rightly visible.
What is your reaction when you meet a
disabled person, whether it is an adult
or a child?
Is your reaction to look away or do you
feel “pity” for the person so much that
it openly shows on your face? Maybe
you’ve seen the frustrated mother
whose child is Autistic and having a
meltdown in the store.
Have you said to yourself that why did
mommy bring him/her shopping in
the first place? Does the behavior
make you uncomfortable? Maybe you
should think about giving the mom a
sincere smile of understanding to
show your support for her.
And, when you’re behind a wheelchair,
or using a walker at the store, of
course they’re going to be a bit slower
than you, and you let out a sign of
impatience.
Or perhaps they can’t reach the top
shelf for an item. Ever think about
giving a helping hand instead of
zooming around them? Why not give
them a smile along with “have a good
day”. I bet you get a smile back.
Then there’s the car that parks in the
handicapped space. Sure, there’s
either a plate or placard permitting
them to park there. But when they get
out of the car you can’t see anything
disabled about them. At least nothing
visible! Perhaps the person has heart
health issues or has emphysema.
Walking distances is difficult.
The disabled face challenges easier
than others, but none-the-less
challenges, some may be lifetime or
temporary.
What if you had to be in their
“shoes”?
Wouldn’t you want to feel that you
count in-spite of the disability?
Here’s a challenge to each of us!
Next time you happen upon a
disabled person give them a big
sincere smile.
Or maybe “have a good day”, or
“isn’t the weather nice today”?
Acknowledge the person as a
“person” not just someone disabled.
If you’re interested in learning
about disabilities feel free to contact
the Health and Wellness
Committee.
WRAPPED IN LOVE The Wrapped in Love Crochet
group has been busy making Lap Robes and Prayer
Shawls. Each item have been prayed over several
times. Prayed over as they are being made, prayed over
by our group, and prayed over by the Wednesday Ser-
vice and/or Church Service. By the time the person re-
ceives it, the item is filled with prayers. Our Prayer
Shawls and Lap Robes are made to bring comfort to
those who are ill, console those who are grieving, or
bring hope to those who maybe hopeless.
Whether you can crochet, knit or want to learn please
feel free to join us. You don’t have to be a member of
the church. If you know of someone who would like to
receive a Lap Robe or Shawl please contact Nancy De-
nardo or Ann Lopretto.
We get together on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at
6:30 pm in the Welcome Center. Next meeting will be
Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30pm

PVUMC Trustee Activity April 25, 2017
What started as a broken
coupling in the pump housing for the Pre-School heating loop expanded into also replacing the pump and the motor/motor mounts. We plan to have a spare motor/pump assembly ready to plug in to shorten the repair time
The batteries for the
emergency lighting systems have been re-placed.
Replaced the mower blades on
the lawn tractor, and removed the plow.
The van now has new tires, a
repaired emergency brake and new belts.
The pond leaks have been
repaired, fish were added and flowers have been planted around that area.
ther, confident that He will answer
your prayer, delighted to do so. Je-
sus said those who did not believe
had hardened hearts and the Bible
also says how displeased God is
with hardened hearts. So let’s try
our best ot quickly get over being
offended, get rid quickly of any
guilt, and show kindness and love
wherever we can. We will be amazed
how much happier doing this makes
us. Victories in Jesus come when we
believe for them, and we obey God
as how to get them.

Trustee Report
The shrubs and bushes have been
trimmed in preparation of the coming mulch.
The HVAC unit for the Welcome
Center was able to be repaired, thus eliminating the need for a replacement system, which saved the church almost $11,000.
The rear driveway will be
replaced, and the drains in the parking lots will repaired. We need to raise over $10,000 to help pay this expense as well as windows for the annex and parsonage.
A new phone system has been
purchased and will be installed soon.
Cleanup day is slated for Saturday
May 6th at 9AM. Outside needs mulched and weeded. The sanctuary needs the pews cleaned and polished, and any general cleaning.
Re-light the outside cross using
LED technology. The flashing on the Annex porch
roof was reattached and caulked eliminating to the water issue over the front door.
A new mailbox was installed for
the Annex.
Believing Hearts Receive God’s
Grace,
Jesus compared our receiving God’s
grace to how we grow food. We have to
prepare the soil and after it is sof-
tened, we have to plant the seed of
what we want to grow in it. We must
keep the plants watered, and finally we
must harvest the food. Those steps
also need to be done (though can be at
once) for us to have the promises of
God. Jesus said God’s Word is seed
and just as seed that is scattered on
hard ground is snatched by the birds,
God’s Word believed in hardened
hearts will be stolen by the devil when
it fails to take root. The words that we
believe and speak are the tings we
get. Even things we do not want. “I
catch everything that goes around”, “I
can’t seem to do anything right.” and
calling your kids dumb or stupid are
examples of how we foolishly unknow-
ingly give the devil permission to harm
us. We water the Word by continuing
to believe for, and speak, it. And we do
have to receive or take what we have
been believing for. (Harvest) We are to
call things into being (as imitators of
our creator God), talk as though what
we’ve asked for is on the way, and pic-
ture ourselves with it. Especially heal-
ing. When we do this often, we form
the habit to watch what we say and it
gets easier and we receive thing faster,
as our belief and faith grow stronger.
Just stop saying things we don’t want
to come true. We don’t know when our
believing will kick in. And bad things
we believe, don’t water them by giving
voice to them. Believe and speak,.
Both must be present for faith. Don’t
stop there at preventing bad things
from happening. Purpose to plant lots
NE TW ORK IN G
of good things so you’ll have a
bumper crop of blessing. When we
want something from God do we
check to see if we are fit to receive it
before asking for it? Have we done
plowing? Are we believing Him for
those things and confessed our
faults and been forgiven? Have we
forgiven ought we have against any-
one? Ok, then. We have the soft
hearts needed. Now go to the Fa-
