sacrifice. Learn how Jesus fulfilled the Law and the prophets and became our great High
Priest. New study starts August 28, 2017, Monday nights 6:30-8:30 at Hope Fellowship. Sign up

Hope Fellowship continues to support the River of Hope. One
of the many ways we provide support is by collecting food for
local area pantries. Please place your non-perishable donations
in the River of Hope collection bin at the Welcome Center. For
August 2017 we are asked to donate: Canned Meals For Kids
(Ravioli, Spaghettios) However, you are not limited to
donating only our assigned food. The River of Hope was
established by Brazosport Ministerial Alliance and is funded by
area churches. May God bless your faithfulness in giving to this
ministry.
I want to thank everyone at our Hope Fellowship family for
helping us celebrate the recent graduation of our son William
Mann. It's been an incredible journey experiencing the blessings
that having a supportive and faithful church home has brought to
him as a growing young man. From youth workers in the Awana
program, Pine Cove Volunteers, Sunday School Teachers,
Challenge Chaperones, SOT members and leaders and many
more, you have all played such an important role in our lives by
helping plant the seed of Christian faith. Know that we are so
extremely grateful. Please continue to keep him in your prayers as
William enters the next phase in life as he leaves for the Marines
on August 28th. Gratefully, The Mann Family
Another missionary that has been part of Hope Fellowship
since pre-Pastor Mark days is Carol Detweiler. She is serving
with the Evangelical Free Church denomination in Venezuela.
After falling in love with this South American country during a
1977 short term missions trip, Carol returned in 1980. She
was part of a team of missionaries and nationals who were
planting churches. To date this Hope-supported missionary
has helped to plant nine churches in various Venezuelan
cities. Currently, she is working with a team of seven
nationals to plant a church in Punto Fijo which is just below
Aruba.
The church plant recently celebrated its one year anniversary and is already in need of more space. God has
provided land on which the congregation is building as they are able. Please join Carol and her team in prayer as
they seek God to confirm His leading in the calling of a national full time pastor for this work.
Please also pray for safety, provision, and wisdom as Carol and the team navigate the turmoil in the country.
Waves of anti-government protests have led to dozens killed since April. Basic foods, medicines, etc. are
unavailable or very high in price. Carol said in her recent email that prices double every two weeks. YIKES! This
has made life very difficult for all, as you can imagine. She asks that we pray for a peaceful solution and “that the
Lord would intervene in this situation in a way that only He can. So that no one can claim that it wasn´t God!”
Once again God is showing Himself much bigger than the troubles as He provides for the team. Recently Carol
had been searching for allergy medicines for more than two months. Once she was told that there wasn’t any in
the country, she began to work through a friend living in Spain. Part of the process involved contacting a lady in
Caracas. When Carol sent the information of what was needed that lady said, “I have two packages that are
sufficient for a year that I can sell you here!”
The team has been led by God to teach how to use God’s Word to overcome depression. Through these
continuing teachings and special outreaches, people are responding to the gospel. Carol has found a Spanish
curriculum for leadership development and asked for prayer as they target certain people within the church.
Specifically, she asks that God will work in hearts so they are willing to go through the training, making room in
their busy lives.
Here is a faithful servant working “beyond our walls” in a difficult
situation. Please pray for Carol, her team, and Venezuela as God brings
them to your minds.
