Uses / Usos

1. We use the passive voice when we don´t know who was do theaction.

Usamos la voz pasiva cuando no sabemos quien ha realizado la acción.

Ex.: A boy has been killed. (Un niño ha sido asesinado.)

The car was stolen. (El coche fue robado.)

2. We use the passive voice when we want give importance to theaction.

Usamos la voz pasiva cuando queremos dar importancia a la acción.

Ex.: The letter was delivered yesterday. (La carta fue entregada ayer.)

A mistake was made. (Un error fue cometido.)

Forms and transformation/ Formas y transformación

Structure:

Subject + to be + 3rd column (past participle)

ACTIVE

We clean the kitchen every day.

PASIVE

The kitchen is cleaned every day (by us).

Present Simple Afirmative:

SUBJECT + AM / IS / ARE + PAST PARTICIPLE + OBJECTS / COMPLEMENTS

Ex.:1. El árbol está hecho de billetes. The tree is made of bills.

2.Se venden animales en esta tienda. Animals are sold in this shop.

Negative:

SUBJEC+ 'M NOT / ISN'T / AREN'T + PAST PARTICIPLE + OBJECTS / COMPLEMENTS

Ex.: 1. El árbol no está hecho de billetes.The tree isn't made of bills.

2. No se venden animales en esta tienda.Animals aren't sold in this shop.

Interrogative:

AM / IS / ARE + SUBJECT + PAST PARTICIPLE + OBJECTS / COMPLEMENTS

Ex.: 1. ¿Está el árbol hecho de billetes? Is the tree made of bills?

2. ¿Se venden animales en esta tienda? Are animals sold in this shop?

Past Simple Afirmative:

SUBJECT + WAS /WERE + PAST PARTICIPLE + OBJECTS / COMPLEMENTS

Ex.:1. Se limpió la casa hoy. The house was cleaned today.

2.Los postres estaban hechos. The desserts were made.

Negative:

SUBJECT+ WASN´T/ WEREN´T + PAST PARTICIPLE + OBJECTS / COMPLEMENTS

Ex.: 1. No se limpió la casa hoy.The house wasn't cleaned today.

2.Los postres no estaban hechos.The desserts weren't made.

Interrogative:

WAS / WERE + SUBJECT + PAST PARTICIPLE + OBJECTS / COMPLEMENTS

Ex.: 1. ¿Está el árbol hecho de billetes? Is the tree made of bills?

Present Continuous Afirmative:

Future Simple

Afirmative:

Going to Afirmative:
