Faridabad, is the proud winner of SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2019 under
#SoftwareCategory. They represented #MRU on problem statement of #MSME at LPU nodal
centre, during the Grand Finale of third edition (Software) of Smart India Hackathon- 2019,
held on March 2 and March 3, 2019.
It is the world biggest #OpenInnovationModel organized at 48 nodal centres across the
country simultaneously by Ministry of HRD and with assistance and observation of AICTE,
MIC MSME, i4c and Persistent.
MHRD’s SIH 2019 is a 36hrs continuous programming competition and an initiative to
provide students with a common platform to solve some of pressing problems stated by
various Indian Ministry department and top industries of nation.
SIH-2019 event had 50 lakh+ student applicants from 6000+ institutions from across the
country. Students from IISc, IITs, NITs, Private Institutes and other AICTE/UGC approved
institutions competed nationwide to creatively solve problems and offer technical
solutions.
Team "XCODERS" of Manav Rachna University was selected in the Software Edition
category screening to solve the problem of MSME (Process automation in printing industry
for smooth production and improvement of capacity) and competed with other teams from
across the India in Grand Finale of SIH 2019. Team XCODERS won the prize money 50,000
and a winning trophy.

participated in Vihaan 2.0, 24 hrs Hackathon organized by IEEE Delhi Technical
University and powered by PAYTM.
Students grabbed 3rd position among best 40 teams across the states. They got a

P-BAND | Winner of 2nd position with prize of Rs. 20,000/-
@ 24hrs HACKATHON “TECHNOVATION”
Manav Rachna University, B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering 4th Semester
Students, won Second Prize of Rs. 20,000/- cash, under the theme – “Security &
Surveillance”, amongst 151 teams across the state during 24hrs HACKATHON
“TECHNOVATION”, organized by Sharda University of School & Technology. The
Team presented the solution i.e P-BAND Pollution Band, to detect pollution along with
security tool kit. P-BAND is a wearable, portable and cost efficient device to detect air
quality index with a mobile application connected to sever and website to track one's
location. It can also be used as a security tool kit for girls and children. It gives alert
via SMS and Email to their guardians when they reach to highly polluted area with
current location.
All the team members - Mukul Singh, Parul Taneja, Ridhi Sethi, Deepak Rana,
Abhishek Pandey, also got certificate from Greater Noida Industrial Development
Authority in association with Sharda University.

IPUMUN (Model United Nation)
Conference AUG-2018
Namit Aman, B.Tech. CSE 3rd Semester student, Manav Rachna University, recently attended IPMUN'18,
Model United Conference held at Bharti Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Indraprasth University.
He was allotted the portfolio of France for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The committee
consisted of a variety of delegates all descending from different colleges and universities. There was a head
on heated debate, on the topic 'The Right to Self Determination'. He, as a delegate and an individual, got a
great insight on the topic and got to hear the perspective of other delegates with full enthusiasm.
Namit was awarded with a 'Special Mention' award in the conference.

Conference, at Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August
2018
Saurabh Singh, the student of B.Tech CSE 5th Semester, Manav Rachna University, recently got selected
among the highly selective pool of international applicants to attend the Harvard Project for Asian and
International Relations (HPAIR) Asia Conference, at Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He got
the opportunity to interact with eminent speakers including Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mohammed Yunus;
Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, Founder & Chairman of Sunway Group; Khailee ng MD of 500 startups, Tianyi Joe Zhu
International entrepreneur and investor, Leslie Liu Cooperate Vice President of JD Cloud. He got a chance
to be a part of the panel discussion on “Problem faced by Asians in Hollywood”. The panel included the
famous Korean actors and Malaysian Youtubers. Saurabh also participated in the impact challenge
competition wherein he along with his team gave a presentation on “Impact of cloud at Amazon”. On the last
day, he went for field trips with an entire team of the conference. He represented India and Manav Rachna
University in front of 62 Nations. He also pitched his idea of a startup in front of many potential investors.

Gold medal at IIT Guwahati Robotics

The student team from MRIIC has bagged top position in the recently conducted
robotics championship event at IIT Guwahati (Techniche- Annual Techno-
Management Festival of IIT Guwahati). Students were awarded with Gold medals,
trophies and a cheque of 30,000 INR for winning this event. The following students

Daksh Sharma, B.Tech. CSE, at Stanford
University, August 2018
Daksh Sharma, B.Tech. CSE 7th Semester, Manav Rachna University, is currently
attending Summer Quarter at Stanford University, United States of America. Daksh is
taking Three Courses under renowned professors at Stanford namely Machine
Learning for Social Scientists – A Political Science + Computer Science course;
Einstein and the Structure of Reality – a multi-disciplinary course which combines
History, Physics and Maths; and Environmental Entrepreneurship course. He is also
writing a research paper under the mentorship of Dr. Larry Lagerstrom, comparing the
socio-cultural impact of various scientific icons.

Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2018

Miss Himanshi Bhadana, alumna of Manav Rachna University has made it to the finals
in Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2018 Delhi. Ms. Bhadana has been a starring personality
since her college times and was also among the National Finalists of Microsoft
Imagine Cup for the year 2015 and 2016 respectively.
She shall now be competing with the finalists of Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2018 in
Mumbai.

Engineering Student completed internship
at CERN, Geneva
It is a matter of great pride and honour to share that Akanksha Ahuja (CSE) has done
her final year six-month internship as a Technical Student (with a monthly stipend of
3283 CHF (~ 2,26,600 INR)) at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research),
the world’s largest Nuclear and Particle Physics Laboratory, best known as operator
of the Large Hadron Collider situated at Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1954, the
CERN laboratory sits astride the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva. It is renowned for
the discoveries that include ‘God Particle’ and many other Noble Prize winning
inventions.

Google Summer of Code May,2018
History repeats…. Last year Kartik Sibbal, B.Tech. CSE, Manav Rachna University, in
his second Year qualified and completed Google Summer of Code 2017. Following
league, Manish Khurana, B.Tech. CSE 2nd Year MRU, has been selected for Internship
with Google Summer of Code 2018, wherein he will get 2400 USD on completion of
the same. Google Summer of Code is a global program focused on bringing more
student developers into open source software development. Students work with an
open source organization on a three month programming project. This year, Google
has funded 1,259 student projects for 212 open source organizations who benefit
from active involvement from new developers. Manish will be working on the project
“Eclipse CDT: Integration with the Language Server Protocol”.
Daksh Sharma at Summit Manipal-12 APRIL 2017
SUMMIT MANIPAL, the Model United Nations conference was organized by Leaders Of
Tomorrow club, Manipal, under its latest edition of flagship event. This year number of
delegates soared to an incredible 250+ count from 40 different colleges across India. Daksh
Sharma, B.Tech. 4th-semester student of Department of Computer Science & Technology,
Manav Rachna University was the chairperson of the Futuristic Security Council, which has
been tackling multiple crises ranging from economic to military issues plaguing the world.
Daksh has participated in over 25 MUNs, first being in class 9th as he continues to pursue his
love for geo-politics and International relations.
The paramount objective of this MUN is to inculcate leadership skills among the youth and
thereby incubate the making of world class leaders in the near future. “Ductus Exemplo”, which
translates as “Lead By Example”, is the main motto of each Summit Manipal. This venture
aims at helping students indulge in meaningful conversations about the contemporary issues
that world is facing at the moment and present an efficient solution for the same.
Varnita Jain – Campus Ambassador, Coding Ninjas-13 Sep 2017
Women are no far behind men be it the IT industry or any other field and to further signify this
fact, Varnita Jain, B.Tech CSE 5th semester, Manav Rachna University brought laurels to the
University by successfully becoming a ‘Campus Ambassador’ for ‘Coding Ninjas’.
Coding Ninjas is a company who continuously innovate the best ways to train the next
generation of developers and transform them into tech experts. They approach their educational
philosophy as a never-ending journey of self-improvement along with peer learning.
Varnita Jain has also been offered a 16 weeks internship at the company and her duties as an
ambassador would include conducting Technical/IT events at least once in every 45 days which
will be entirely sponsored by Coding Ninjas. She would also be responsible for the
online/offline promotion of ‘Codezen’, an online competitive coding platform.
Global Science, Technology & Innovation Conference (G-STIC) 2017(5th Oct
2017)
Akanksha Ahuja (CSE, IV Year, MRU; student member Atmospheric and Environmental
Sciences Cluster) participated in the Global Science, Technology & Innovation Conference (G-
STIC) 2017. She emerged as one of the top three winners in Student Challenge category all
over the world. She has now been invited to participate in G-STIC 2017 being organised in
Brussels from 23 to 25 October to present her idea. The G-STIC Conference series will be
hosted jointly by VITO (the prime research and technology organization on Cleantech and
sustainable development in Belgium) and its international partners AIT (Asian Institute of
Technology), IIT-D (Indian Institute of Technology) and TERI (The Energy and Resources
Institute). Her stay, registration and travel costs shall be borne by VITO.

(MUN) -2018
Namit Aman of CSE-2D, had attended a Model United Nations conference hosted by SRM College, Modi Nagar at the NDMC Convention center on 27th and 28th January,2017 (Saturday & Sunday). The main agenda of this conference was to discuss
Sustainable Development Goals 2030. In the end of the conference Namit was awarded with a "Special Mention" award for his
overall performance and awarded with 3rd position.
