E very party needs a bit of glitz and glam and this shawl has both in abundance! It’s wonderfully elegant and would bring knitted grace to any outfit. Choose from wearing it as a regular shawl or fasten the buttons to create a beautiful shrug. We’ve got both written and chart instructions and there’s an interesting cast-on method to try – see our Knitwise panel for how to do it.

Designer Anniken recommends starting this shawl with an Eastern provisional cast-on and garter stitch tab. To work the cast on, hold the needle tips of the circular needle together in your left hand and tie a slipknot on the bottom needle. Wrap the yarn around both needle tips going from back to front until it has been wrapped three times. Pull the bottom needle tip forward and use it to knit the stitches on the top needle tip. Turn the work, then work Row 1 of the Garter stitch tab.
