When: Session #1Track: Educational AdvocacyWho: Tim Albert, David Geeslin, and Ronelle JohnsonDescription: Come and find out how your chapter can develop partnership with the deaf school or program in your area to promote children of color’s educational and social experience. You will learn how Indiana Chapter Black Deaf Advocate reached out and collaborated with the Indiana School for the Deaf. You will identify several formats of Town Hall meetings and what each format includes and in what manner the desired outcomes are achieved. The ICBDA/ISD Retreat results will be unveiled and shared. Discussion will include how we sorted and identified concerns that we gathered from the Town Hall meeting. The development of our action plan will be shown with expected parameters to be covered. The feedbacks of action plan that ICBDA and ISD developed will be shared. At the end of workshop, you will be able to identify what actions you can take with your organization and the local school or program to achieve your objectives of a promoting a more inclusive environment for all deaf students in your area.CEUs: General Studies
