Introductions

Background The Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-

2030) is a bold new roadmap for ending all preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths, including stillbirths, by 2030, and improving their overall health and well- being. It aims to keep women, children and adolescents at the heart of the sustainable development agenda, unlocking their vast potential for transformative change. More than 300 organizations have contributed more than 400 time-

bound, measurable commitments to advance the 2010-2015 Global Strategy – commitments that all contributed to remarkable results and more 100 countries and partners have signed country and commitment to the global strategy after the launch at the UNGA SDG 2015.

Partners Successes

Donor partners were able to mobilise resources for countries to implement RMNCH programmes. Donor countries supported

countries to achieve MDGs goals. Most countries have updated

and developed maternal and newborn national stratrgies. Ability to attrack the attention of

the UN system and national political leadership to support the global strategy on maternal newborn and child health.

Partners Challenges

Most countries not yet domesticated global strategy into their national budget framework. Most countries do no have

national independent accountability multi sectoral teams to track progress on global strategy. Some countries partnership at

national level is not strong among key players i.e donors partners ,NGOs/CSOs and government.

Evidence has shown we need the national Independent multi sectoral accountability mechanism in all partner countries. PMNCH should have national

country presence in all partner countries national throug its membership . All PMNCH countries should

commit to include the local resources to support the global strategy. At national level government and

donor partners should support other partners implementation .

Secret to Success on Partnership

Role of different partners need to be defined and supported at national level in support of the global strategy. National and global programmes

should develop and include indicators of success on the partnership involvment and contribution to the global strategy.
