    PARTITIONS

A partition may be defined as a division or wall provided for the purpose of dividing one room or

portion of a room. Generally partitions are designed to carry their own weight only. But sometime

they act as a support for floor joist and roof truss, etc. In the latter the partitions are known as load

bearing partitions and they should be designed to carry the load coming upon them. They may be

taken up to full floor height or up to eye level i.e. 2 to 2.50. Generally the partition consists of a

structural frame with an in filler which may be glass, plywood etc. But frameless partitions are also

    available.

    REQUIREMENTS OF A GOOD PARTITION:

    I. It should be strong enough to carry its own weight.

II. It should be capable of resisting impact developed due to use of building.

III. It should act as a sound barrier especially when it divides a room into two units.IV. It should have the capacity to support suitable decorative surface.

    V. It should possess enough strength to support some wall fixture, sinks, wash basins etc.

    TYPES OF PARTITIONS:

    WORKING:

I.Temporary: Moveable, Foldable or curtain divider.

    II.Permanent: Fixed etc.

MEDIUM DENSITY FIBRE (MDF) BOARDS PARTITIONS:

Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into

wood fibers, often in a defibrators, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by

applying high temperature and pressure MDF is more dense than plywood.

They are used to make office partitions, workstation partitions, home partitions. They can be full

height or half height partitions. The frame consist of extruded aluminium sections. The In-filler is

MDF pre-laminated boards and glass. The sizes of the MDF boards are as follows standard size of the

boards is 8x4. Size of the Sections are as follows width 65mm, 4-5mm glass. Powder coating is

done on the sections to make it chemical resistant. The sections are screwed to the floor ,walls and

ceiling and a rubber strips is provided for balancing .Cost of making MDF boards is Rs 365/-per Sq

ft. They can be easily re-located.

Advantages of MDF board partitions are as follows:

    Consistent in strength and size

Flexible. Can be used for curved walls or surfaces.

    Shapes well.

    AREOCON PANELS

Aerocon is a sandwich panel of two fiber-reinforced cement

sheets enclosing a light-weight core composed of Portland

cement, binders and a mix of silicaceous and micaceous

material aggregate. It has the unique Tongue and groove

system which facilitates rapid construction with minimum effort. Aerocon sandwich panels are an

excellent substitute for plaster-board, plywood, particleboard and brickwall partitions as they

combine all the desirable attributes for partitions. They score over conventional alternatives by

virtue of their fire-and moisture-resistance properties and sheer strength to take workaday

knocks in their stride. Because they are amenable to rapid installation there is no disruption of

    work and / or business.

A Complete Solutions System: Aerocon Sandwich panels

are more than just plain sheets. They are offered as a total

system with a tongue and groove joining system along with

accessories like pre-designed steel channels. These panelsslide in and rest snugly at the base, and you have a ready-

made system for easy and rapid assembly.

All the Strength for all the Toughness: Aerocon panels are

strong enough to withstand the rough and tumble of

everyday life. Mainly because of their high strength-to-

weight ratio, they are capable of taking normal to hard

knocks and pressure in their stride.

Moisture Resistance: Aerocon panels resist moisture from seeping in either from the atmosphere or

even from accidental spills. They are also dimensionally stable and warp-free, a definite plus for

    longevity.

Fire-Resistance: Aerocon panels are non-combustible. These have been tested at CBRI Roorkee for

their fire resistance property as per BS476 and found to be fire rated for 1 hr. For 50mm and 2 hrs.

For 75mm thickness panels. What's more, no toxic fumes are emitted in case of fire, making them

very safe and ideal for use in sensitive areas.

Resistence to Termites & Rodents: Aerocon panels are not susceptible to attack by termites or

rodents. Aerocon partitions, therefore, stay clean and intact for a long, long time.

Thermal Insulation: Aerocon panels impart good thermal insulation and hence are most suitable in

tropical weather conditions. This helps in saving on air conditioning and energy costs.

Acoustic Insulation: Aerocon panels offer excellent insulation

against sound and noise. STC rating of 33-36 db makes them

    most suitable for

hospitals/nursing homes, libraries, schools and offices where

the need for peace and quiet is paramount.

Ease of Installation: Aerocon tongue & groove joining system

allows faster construction. Aerocon panels can be easilyworked with conventional carpenter's tools and is, therefore,

easy to install. They are easily transportable because of their

light-weight and aids speedy installation.Conference Room in a Corporate

    Office

Excellent Surface finish: The smooth surface of Aerocon panels allows them to take a range of

surface finishes like paint, wall-papering and other decorative treatments as desired.
