Academic CalendarCompletion of the MSc in Finance (Part-time) normally takes 24 months of part-time study. In order to better accommodate the demanding work schedule of part-time students, the required courses are offered in an intensive teaching mode, usually lasting 6 weeks.

Tutorial classes, largely optional, are provided for all students. They aim to assist students in dealing with any problems or difficulties that they encounter with the courses. For some courses, the tutorial will form part of the continuous assessment along with the courses. Tutorial classes are held once a week for each course.

* The above study schedule is tentative. If some required courses are not offered in the first year of studies, students may take elective

“The CUHK MSc Finance program offers a great combination of finance

theory and market practice. The courses are topical and well balanced,

covering a wide spectrum of financial topics which consolidate and deepen

my knowledge in various aspects of finance. The courses of the program

place great emphasis on business cases and current financial issues, with

the aim of developing students’ critical thinking, and broadening their

perspective globally. This is of paramount importance in our fast-changing

financial landscape.

It has been a rewarding and enriching experience throughout the course

of study. I treasure the opportunity to connect with classmates from diverse

background and interact with industry practitioners, which is definitely not

something I can get from simply reading finance textbooks.

If you want to challenge yourself, realize your potential and excel in the

field of finance, the program is a great choice for you to consider.”

(Current Student)Head of Investments Department and Treasury CentreIndustrial & Commercial Bank of China“I have been working in financial industry for 16 years, 10 years as a fixed

income portfolio manager and 5 years as a currency & derivative trader.

Having survived US subprime mortgage crisis, global financial crisis and EU

debt crisis, the more I experienced market turbulence, the more I feel a lack

of knowledge. Trying to eliminate this feeling, I decided to join the program.

I researched into a few universities and found that MSc in Finance in CUHK

is well-established and comprehensive. It helps to enhance my academic

knowledge greatly, makes it more solid and systematic. Career development

is seldom smooth sailing - just keep learning, because knowledge will be your

ornament in prosperity, refuge in adversity and provision in old age.”
