    Job Title: Human Services/ICWA Caseworker

    Location: Mashpee Offices

    Reports To: ICWA Director

    Status: Part-Time

    Salary Range: $18.00 to $22.00 per hour (commensurate with experiences)

    Summary:A caseworker to provide assistance to tribal families to improve their social andeconomic home environment; to protect children and their families so as to maximize thefamilys well-being. Responsibilities will include assessing the families safety,abuse/neglect and to be aware of any signs of danger in the family; Assess the familystrengthens and their weaknesses, along with the familys capabilities. It must be a person

    who has a strong desire to help others. Advises and aids individuals and tribal familiesrequiring assistance in compliance with Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA)

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Conducts screening to determine eligibility for services Secures information such as medical, psychological, and social factors

    contributing to clients situation, and evaluates these factors and clients

    capacities.

    Work in coordination with all appropriate departments and participate in the teameffort to support

    MWT families and their children. Advises client individually, in family, or in other small group settings regarding

    plans for meeting needs, and aids client to mobilize internal capacities andenvironmental resources to improve social functioning.

    Refers clients to community resources and other organizations. Coordinateavailable resources to meet clients families needs.

    Compiles records and prepares reports and disseminates information. Ensure caseplans are keep accurate and current. Participate in regular case file reviews.Documents case contacts and maintains case files.

    Accesses and records client and community resource information.

    Secures supplementary information such as employment, medical records, orschool reports.

    Attend and participate in court hearings as necessary. Identifies problems or barriers faced by clients such as personal and family

    adjustments, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing, and physical andmental impairments to determine nature and degree of problem.

    Promotes and coordinates activities of agencies, groups and individuals to meetidentified needs.

    Expected to make monthly home visits to our families. Interprets needs, programs, and services to agencies, groups, and individuals

    involved and provides assistance.

    Stays informed of all internal and external programs available for Tribal Membersthat will enhance their quality of life.

    Maintains contact with representatives of other organizations to exchange andupdate information on resources and services available.

    Maintains accurate case records of assessment, activities, and plans; writesummaries, reports, and correspondences.

    Evaluate service needs and assist in research and development of resources tomeet service needs.

    Remain current on issues related to services for families, children, and the Tribe;and Federal or State legislation or regulations in relation to social servicedelivery.

    Collaborates with the Department of Children & Families (DCF) ICWA trainingsand presentations.

    Maintains strict client confidentiality and becomes familiar with Indian ChildWelfare Act.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Experience:

    A Bachelors degree preferred in some type of Human Services or a related field, havingbasic knowledge of social work theory and practice, will accept an Associates degree(A.A.) from a two-year college with a concentration in human and/or social services anda minimum of two years related experience.

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, including correspondences andmemos. Ability to write simple correspondences. Ability to effectively presentinformation in one-on-one and small group settings to customer, clients, and otheremployees of the organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent andto draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oralinstructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables andstandardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual possess computer skills and knowledge ofword, excel spreadsheet and to access and retrieve information from the internet.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    Must be certified in CPR/First Aid or obtain certification within 90 days of hire and mustpossess a valid drivers license.
