We are happy to present to you the March 2018 edition of the MCAST Part-Time Courses Prospectus.

Once again, we are delighted to offer you a wide range of part-time courses, ranging from short hobby courses to accredited ones, going up to degree and Masters level. We do our utmost to offer you programmes which are continuously updated and aligned to industry needs.

Thousands of students have experienced our part-time courses during the past years and we are proud to acknowledge their consistent positive feedback. This is the result of our dedicated lecturing staff and administrative support, which students recieve during their training at MCAST. We combine tradition and innovation and complement outstanding teaching and learning with the very best facilities in beautiful settings to offer what is, I believe, one of the best environments to study and learn new skills you’ll find anywhere.

Following the successful launch of the part-time Master’s degree programmes last year, MCAST is proud to launch two new Master’s programmes at ‘MQF Level 7: the Masters in iGaming Technology and Masters in iGaming Data and Analytics. Furthermore, we will also be launching the Post Graduate Certificate and a range of stand-alone modules in iGaming, thus opening new venues for development in this popular career path.

Another exiting novelty in this prospectus is the launch of MCASTeens 2018. Youngsters from 12 to 16 years old are given the opportunity to engage themselves in a new experience, the DISCOVERY Summer Camp. The eight week programme will be held during the summer holidays and gives them the opportunity to enjoy a weekly thematic programme, packed with hands-on activities with great possibilities to discover the world of vocational education and beyond. More details about the MCASTeens 2018 DISCOVERY Summer Camp programme can be found on the back page.

With the exception of MCASTeens, all MCAST Part Time Courses are open to candidates whoare over 16 years of age.The application form on page 23 of this booklet should be completed by prospective candidates and returned together with full payment to: The Office of Part-Time Courses, MCAST Main Campus, New Students’ House, Corradino Hill, Paola PLA 9032. Applicants are requested to bring their ID card when applying in person. Applications without full payment shall be considered incomplete and will not be processed.

• Demonstrate that they stand to benefit and show that they are able to follow the programme through an interview held for the purpose. The Interview Board may require candidates to undertake additional studies as part of their acceptance. The Board may recommend an alternative programme where it considers it appropriate. The Board reserves the right to evaluate the prospective candidate’s competences through an assessment. Students are advised to contact the Office of Part-Time Courses to clarify any queries.

Cancellation Policy• The course fee is non-refundable for candidates who

choose to withdraw their application. However it may be transferred to another course of the applicant’s preference. This has to be done prior to the closing date of the application period.

• A full refund of the fee will be affected by MCAST in the event that the College is unable to provide the course.

Programmes and other Foreign Awarding BodiesIt is the responsibility of the student to ensure that applications for examinations are duly filled in and submitted at the corresponding Institute. Late applications will be subject to a ‘late application fee’.

Running of Courses

2. Cancellation of LecturesCancellation of lectures will be communicated to students via SMS on the mobile number indicated on the application form.

Course Examinations and CertificationSuccessful completion of courses certified by MCAST entitles the student to either a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ or a ‘Certificate of Achievement’. Further information on which type of certificate one can achieve can be obtained from the course outline available on shortcourses.mcast.edu.mt.

1. Certificate of AttendanceA certificate will be issued if attendance exceeds 80%of course duration.

2. Certificate of AchievementTo obtain a Certificate of Achievement, a student must;• Attend a minimum of 80% of the course• Pass successfully the test/assessment.

A student will not be eligible to sit for the final test/assessment if he/she has not attended 80% of the course.Candidates who wish to receive their certificate by post can do so at a fee of €4 to cover mailing costs.

Full CertificationCourses to which a MCAST Level and number of ECTS/ECVET have been assigned can be used as building blocks leading to a full Certification.

As an example, it may be possible to take separate units at Level 4 in engineering totalling up to 30 credits and thus qualify for a Level 4 Certificate in Engineering. The combination of units needs to be approved by MCAST.

Units can also be taken separately and in such cases a single unit certificate will be issued after successful completion of the unit.
