welcometo your introduction to Leapfrog Mining

our goal…

Page 4: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

More time to think about the geology

fast!

Page 5: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

Consider a number of

interpretations at the same

time

flexible

Page 6: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

It is more dynamic than any

How Leapfrog works

Who uses Leapfrog?

A step by step guide

Different

and better

Why spend time drawing in 2D

when you can build a 3D model?

Spend your precious time:

1. Refining the model

2. Understanding the geology

3. Applying your geological

knowledge

Leapfrog encourages you to think

differently about how you model

geology, it’s a philosophy and a way of

working, not just software.

Dynamic

and fast Use the incredible speed

of the software to:

1. Spend more time

thinking.

2. Update the models

quickly.

3. Test and apply geological

assumptions.

Thinking in

3D

How good are you at

thinking in 3D?

Look at the pairs of images

opposite. Which pairs are

showing the same 3D

shape?

Thinking in

3D

Thinking in 3D is a skill. When

combined with the power of

Leapfrog it provides fast,

accurate and commanding

results

Page 12: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

An implicit

3D engine So how does Leapfrog

work?

Leapfrog has a 3D implicit

engine that takes the pieces of

the geological puzzle (raw

data) and fits them together to

create a 3D model in a fraction

of the time it would take with

alternative methods.

Page 13: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

Interpolation

Leapfrog works by interpolating points

in 3D space using Radial Basis

Functions.

Interpolation is a way of constructing

new data points within the range of a

set of known data points.

The blue dots are the

known data points. The red

line is then fitted between the points.

Page 14: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

Implicit not

explicitLeapfrog is implicit modelling:

It takes point data and builds 3D

surfaces.

Can easily be updated when new

information is found.

Rapidly explore different

interpretations.

Leapfrog allows you to refine

models directly, adding faults,

trends, contacts etc.

Clean data Data is always limited and noisy.

Leapfrog will:

Check for anomalies

and clean the data.

Use all the data and

information as it

becomes available.

Help understand the

geological risk.

Powerful

presentations

- Leapfrog’s stunning graphics

and 3D viewer are often touted

as the best in the industry.

- Information is easy to present

in a compelling way.

Page 17: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

the cornerstones

So, to sum up the four key principles of

Leapfrog:

1. Geology is dynamic and 3D.

2. Computers can do the grunt work.

3. Several versions of a model minimise

geological risk.

4. High-end visualisation enables

better interpretation.

Page 18: Part 1 of 4 Leapfrog Introductory

the benefits

Quality Stunning visualisation tools and greater

validation of models.

SpeedA fraction of the time compared with

explicit modelling.

CostHuge savings from the time saved and

improved decisions.

being used for different deposit types,

series.

modelling is available from our website.
