FAQ

The Wi-Fi connection between my smartphone and the Jumping Sumo is poor quality

o The channel may be congested. In the FreeFlight 3 application settings, switch to Manual mode and select a channel that is not overloaded. For more information see the Settings > Wi-Fi section in the Jumping Sumo instructions.

I can't get the Jumping Sumo to jump/the jump buttons are greyed out

o Ensure that the Jumping Sumo battery has sufficient charge. When the battery charge is low the jump function is blocked.

o Check that there are nothing blocking the Jumping Sumo arm.

How can the Jumping Sumo be reset?

o Press the button for 12 seconds.

Which USB Flash drives should be used with the Jumping Sumo to record a video?

o You can connect the following to the Jumping Sumo: A USB Flash drive using a female USB/micro-USB cable (not supplied)

A micro-USB Flash drive (not supplied). Before buying a micro-USB Flash drive, ensure that its dimensions enable it to be inserted into the Parrot Jumping Sumo (width less than 1.5cm, height less than 2.5cm).

o Ensure your USB or micro-USB Flash drive is formatted to FAT32 and that it has at least 100Mb of free space available.

Is there an automatic return-to-user function?

o No

Where is the Jumping Sumo serial number located?

o The serial number is located in the battery compartment.

What are the provided rubber pads for?

o The rubber pad is located at the end of the Jumping Sumo arm. This part can be worn

if the Jumping Sumo rolls regularly over uneven or rough surfaces (ex : concrete,

gravels). To reduce this part wear, you can put the Jumping Sumo in Auto-balance

position while rolling over these types of surface. If the wear is too high, replace the

rubber pad as indicated on the diagram below.

The spring of my Jumping Sumo is stuck

o Please check the following points:

The spring operation is automatically prohibited when the battery is low. Charge the battery. Perform a vertical jump in order to replace the spring in its normal

position.

The spring needs oiling.

1. Apply machine oil in the two holes located above the LED eyes.

2. Clip the head of the Jumping Sumo back on.

3. Press and release the spring several times in order to spread the oil.

The rivet exceeds the spring. Replace the rivet in its compartment by pushing it on a tough surface.

The Jumping Sumo makes a strong crack sound when the jump function is activated. Contact your place of purchase so a warranty claim can be processed.

My Jumping Sumo doesn’t detect my USB flash drive

o Make sure the battery is inserted and charged. o Make sure that your USB flash drive is formatted to FAT32 and not NTFS and that it

has no other plf file. The procedure to format a USB flash drive to FAT32 depends on your operating system. Usually, you have to right-click on your USB flash drive.

UPDATE PROCESS

Two methods are available for updating your Jumping Sumo:

With the FreeFlight 3 Application

1. Launch the FreeFlight 3 application.

2. If necessary, connect your smartphone to Internet. Then press Check for updates. > The following pop-up appears:

1. Press OK. a. The application downloads the new version. b. If necessary, reestablish the Wi-Fi connection to your Jumping Sumo. c. The installation of the new version starts automatically.

3. A pop-up asks you to reboot your Jumping Sumo. Press OK.

With a micro USB/ USB Flash drive

To update your Jumping Sumo via USB, use a USB flash drive with a female USB/micro-USB cable or a micro-USB Flash drive to your Jumping Sumo (not supplied).

1. Connect your USB flash drive to a computer. Make sure that your USB flash drive is formatted to FAT32 and not NTFS and that it has no other plf file. The procedure to format a USB flash drive to FAT32 depends on your operating system. Usually, you have to right-click on your USB flash drive.

2. Download the update file available in the blue box located above. The .plf file is the update

file you have to install on your Jumping Sumo. It is important not to confuse it with a .pdf file opening in Adobe Reader..

3. Move the update file to the root of your USB Flash drive. Do not place the update file in any directory. Do not rename the file.

4. Connect the USB or micro USB Flash drive to your Jumping Sumo. 1. Your Jumping Sumo detects and uploads the update file automatically. The LED eyes

flash red during the download. Once the upload is finished, the LED eyes flash green. Your jumping Sumo reboots automatically.
