P.A.R.P. 2013

Don’t Bug Me, I’m Reading!P.A.R.P. (Parents As Reading Partners)is a program designed to foster the love of reading in children by asking parents to set aside 15 minutes daily to read with their children. This year our P.A.R.P. theme is “Don’t Bug Me, I’m Reading”.

We will kick off P.A.R.P with a Book Fair at Barnes and Nobles in Lake Grove on Thursday, November 14th at 6-8pm. Several teachers will be there to read their favorite stories to the kids. In addition 10% of all purchases will be donated to our school PTA. The Cheesecake Factory will provide free samples of their delicious cheesecake. To make the night complete, Wendy’s at 570 Middle Country Road, St. James has agreed to donate 15% of all purchases made between 5-8pm.

Take this opportunity to participate in these enjoyable events. Get your family reading together and establish good reading habits that will last a lifetime. No one is ever too old to be read to!

Schedule of P.A.R.P. events:       

Daily participation raffle: November 15-November 20

After a night reading with a parent, the students can bring their raffle slip into lunch for a chance to win a prize. At that time they can also help fill our mural with bug stickers! Two raffle prize winners will be announced each day. Don’t miss out on the fun!!

Book Fair at Barnes and Nobles: Thursday, November 14 at 6-8pm

Wendy’s fundraising hours: Thursday, November 14 at 5-8pm

RIF Book Distribution Days: November 18th and 19th

Read a Shirt Day: Friday November 15th Students are invited to wear a shirt with writing. Please be sure the pictures and print on the shirt are appropriate for school.

Bookmark Distribution: All P.A.R.P. participants will receive a bookmark to celebrate their participation.
