◦ Parkway Drive was formed in 2002 in Byron Bay, Australia. The name was taken from where the band held their practices; in the “Parkway House” on Parkway Drive-the street. Byron Bay, known as a ‘’hippie loving’’ town was awakened by Parkway Drive’s blend of sound. The band’s music consists of heavy vocals, strong breakdowns, heavier and melodic guitar riffs as well as hardcore emotional lyrics. The band’s genre has been classified from melodic deathcore to metalcore.

◦ In 2005 Parkway Drive released their first EP, Don’t Close Your Eyes under Sydney based record company, Resist Records. In 2006 the band traveled to Boston Massachusetts to record their first full length album, Killing With A Smile, under producer Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage. The album topped charts in Australia which led to the band being signed by an American record label, Epitaph Records. Through Epitaph the album was released in North America and Europe. In 2007 the band returned to Massachusetts to record their next album Horizons. In 2010 the band released their 3rd album Deep Blue. In October 2012 Parkway Drive will release their fourth album, Atlas.

Many think that Parkway Drive is one of the best bands in their genre. Some people might disagree(see YouTube comments) and compare them to Bury Tomorrow who sound similar but are different. Parkway Drive must be successful if they keep selling out concerts and people are buying their CDs. Parkway Drive is one of my favorite bands, along with Bury Tomorrow
