An outstanding columnar Asian White Birch with dense, dark-green summer fo-liage and attractive white bark. Foliage turns golden in late fall. ____________________________________________________________________________ Botanical Name: Betula platyphylla ‘Jefpark’ ____________________________________________________________________________ Family: Betulaceae ____________________________________________________________________________ Common Name: Parkland Pillar® Asian White Birch ____________________________________________________________________________ Origin: Parkland Pillar® was discovered in a row of Asian White Birch at Parkland Nurseries, Red Deer, Alberta in the summer of 2006. Parkland Pillar® was selected by Parkland Nurseries owner Dwayne Beck for it dense, columnar form. ____________________________________________________________________________ Hardiness: Zone 3 (Canadian and USDA) ____________________________________________________________________________ Growth Rate: A fast-growing tree. Mature size of 30’ (10 m) x 6’ (2 m). ____________________________________________________________________________ Description: Parkland Pillar® has a columnar tree form with dense, dark-green foliage that turns golden in the fall. Its white bark is a useful contrasting feature in the winter landscape. ____________________________________________________________________________ Culture: Grows best in full sunlight or partial shade. Prefers well drained, medium textured soils with adequate moisture.
