Thank you for purchasing a parking permit.Hang your permit from the rear view mirror or display

on the driver’s side of the dash so that the whole face of the permit is clearly visible from outside. Windshield display pouches are available at no charge from the PaTS office.

PERMIT REGULATIONS• Permits are required at all times. • PERMITS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. They are proper-

ty of PaTS and may not be duplicated, resold or gifted.• Do not use your permit to let others in/out of parking ar-

eas.• Permits are valid only for vehicle(s) registered to the

permit. If your second vehicle is a motorcycle, only one vehicle may park on campus at a time.

• Permits are not valid at meters or Visitor parking ar-eas; payment is required.

• If you change your vehicle, PaTS must be notified with tag number, model and make of the new vehicle in per-son or by phone. Changes may not be made online.

• Permit holders who drive a substitute vehicle must obtain a temporary permit for that vehicle. Temporary permits are free for up to 10 days per academic year.

• Lost or stolen permits will be replaced or refunded with proper documentation and applicable fees.

Finding a spacePeak demand is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mon.-Thu. Areas

closest to academic buildings fill up first. Save time by parking in North Deck, South Village Deck, CRI Deck I, or Lot 6, then walk or take the shuttle. Parking areas may change

Parking areas may be closed at any time due to construc-tion, special events (e.g. football) and other circumstances. Read all signs near parking areas and check the PaTS web-site for updates. Parking in certain areas may require an ad-ditional charge.Safety

Lock your vehicle at all times; don’t leave valuables in plain sight. UNC Charlotte assumes no responsibility for accidents or loss in connection with the condition or use of parking facilities, nor is it liable for damage or theft to ve-hicles parking on University property.

PERMIT REFUNDS• Prorated refunds are available for those who graduate

mid-year or withdraw. The original permit must be re-turned and prorated amount will be calculated from date of return, not withdrawal. (Refund schedule: pats.uncc.edu/refunds). The last day for any refund is April 21, 2017.

• Night permits are eligible for refunds only through the first week of classes.

• Faculty/Staff permits must be returned upon departure from UNCC employment.

• Refunds are made by check and mailed to the permit purchaser, or credited to the card used for purchase.

DISABILITY PARKING hBoth a UNCC parking permit and handicap placard are required in ADA spaces in all decks and lots. Payment at meters and Visitor areas is still required with a placard. ADA Parking at Center City is currently provided at the Preferred Parking Lot at 625 N. Brevard St. Both a UNCC parking permit and handicap placard are required. Handicap placards are registered to people, not vehicles. It is unlawful to use a placard not registered to you.

Loading ZonesRequest short term permission to use loading zones for loading/unloading by calling 704-687-0161.

PARKING VIOLATIONS• Full ordinances governing campus parking, a complete

list of parking violations, and citation fees are available at pats.uncc.edu.

• Vehicle operators must obey the instructions of any law officer, parking control officer, official traffic sign, or traf-fic control device.

• Violation of the University’s parking rules and regula-tions may result in the loss of parking privileges without refund.

Enforcement• Permits are required at all times.• Vehicles must park in marked spaces at all times.• Reserved spaces are enforced at all times.• Meters are enforced at all times. Citation Discounts• The first three (3) citations received in an academic

year may be paid at a 50% discount if paid within 10 business days of the violation or within 10 business days of the denial notice if citation was appealed and denied.

• 50% discount excludes penalties for false or fraudulent parking permits or parking in a disability space.

• All subsequent penalties will be paid at full value. Appeals• Citations may be appealed within 10 business days.

Appeals are submitted online. Forms are also available in the PaTS office. Late appeals are not accepted.

• Appeals are considered if vehicle was not in violation at the time of the citation, and/or if any extenuating cir-cumstances beyond the operator’s control placed the ve-hicle in violation.

• Appeals are answered via email to a uncc.edu account. Failure to Pay Parking Fines• Students: Citations are charged to the student’s Universi-

ty account. Failure to pay will result in denial of registra-tion, issuance of transcripts or graduation.

• Faculty/Staff: Citations are deducted from payroll check.• Nonaffiliated Visitors: Charges submitted for collection

through an independent agency.Towing/Immobilization Policy

Vehicles may be towed or an immobilization device at-tached when four (4) or more citations and/or seven (7) or more unpaid parking deck vouchers are issued to any vehicle(s) registered to the same person.
