Bi-monthly coffee mornings Circulation of Parish magazine, produced ten times each year; four hundred free copies delivered throughout the Parish in June. 4(a) Is there an organised system of outreach and welcome to new families?

There are numerous ways in which we welcome new families, some organised and others more informal. Adel is a friendly church where people feel welcomed.

(b) If so, please describe:

Sidesmen are present at all services to greet people as they arrive, seat them with members of the congregation. “New home packs” have been delivered to many new houses in the area, although this system is currently on hold. The congregation is always invited to meet for coffee after our 10am service. Our 5th Sunday afternoon Café Church service has been organised specifically to meet the needs of families who find it difficult because of other commitments to attend Sunday morning services. Our Church Wardens make a special effort to identify new families and make them welcome

We have close links with OPAL, display their leaflets in Church and devote space in our Parish Magazine to their activities and contact details. OPAL holds some of its meetings in our Church Hall. Some members of our congregation are members of OPAL and able to signpost others to this service. A monthly service is led by our Rector at Adel Grange Nursing Home. We offer free use of our Church Hall for occasional meetings of the Adel Association and Adel Neighbourhood Forum.

To engage with the people moving into the new properties in Adel.

1. Providing for a fast-growing 21 Century suburban community in a Church and Church Hall built to meet the needs of a small community living in a 12th Century rural setting. Reorganisation of the space within the church.
