Ages of congregation: 0-105 years The congregation is made up of employed and retired. Families attend and approximately forty children attend the Sunday 10:00 am service.

Modern Catholic style Chasuble and stole are worn during Communion

Average weekly giving £1193 (93% is Gift-aided) Of that £170 is open-plate.

IV. Outreach and Mission 1(a) What are the regular mission and

outreach activities of the parish?

Bi-monthly coffee mornings Circulation of Parish magazine, produced ten times each year; four hundred free copies delivered throughout the Parish in June. Circulation of printed Christmas and Easter cards throughout the Parish Café Church initiative (whenever there is a 5th Sunday in the month) Weekly Junior Church during term time Monthly JJs for all under school age Varied programme of social events held in the Church and/or Church Hall across the year Regular Churchyard Meadow Days Open Church – Thursday afternoon throughout the year and Sunday afternoon in summer months All Age Band and involvement of young people in our monthly All Age Service A regular service held in Adel Grange Nursing Home Ongoing encouragement to members of the congregation to be involved with different aspects of worship, PCC and committees.

4(a) Is there an organised system of outreach and welcome to new families?

There are numerous ways in which we welcome new families, some organised and others more informal. Adel is a friendly church where people feel welcomed.

(b) If so, please describe:

Sidesmen are present at all services to greet people as they arrive, seat them with members of the congregation. “New home packs” have been delivered to many new houses in the area, although this system is currently on hold. The congregation is always invited to meet for coffee after our 10am service. Our 5th Sunday afternoon Café Church service has been organised specifically to meet the needs of families who find it difficult because of other commitments to attend Sunday morning services. Our Church Wardens make a special effort to identify new families and make them welcome

5. What part does the church play in community care?

We have close links with OPAL, display their leaflets in Church and devote space in our Parish Magazine to their activities and contact details. OPAL holds some of its meetings in our Church Hall. Some members of our congregation are members of OPAL and able to signpost others to this service. A monthly service is led by our Rector at Adel Grange Nursing Home. We offer free use of our Church Hall for occasional meetings of the Adel Association and Adel Neighbourhood Forum.

Adel is a constantly evolving church and community, and as such is always ready for change and development.

2. What are the main areas of mission that you think the new priest should prioritise in their ministry?

To engage with the people moving into the new properties in Adel.

3. In summary, what are the top three challenges with which you and the new priest need to engage?

1. Providing for a fast-growing 21 Century suburban community in a Church and Church Hall built to meet the needs of a small community living in a 12th Century rural setting. Reorganisation of the space within the church.

2. Addressing the needs of a diverse congregation – especially in terms of the age range.

3. Build on the existing good communications within the parish, exploring needs expressed by people who are not necessarily church members.
