THE PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT We have a unique episode in the Acts of the Apostles today. A whole roomful of people are baptized with the Holy Spirit before they are baptized with water! The verb used—“the Holy Spirit ‘fell’ on them” (Acts 10:44)—is characteristic of the way the Spirit works throughout the book of Acts: powerful and surpris-ing. Though this “baptism” is not the normative way the New Testament describes baptism, it is still a good reminder today that the Holy Spirit is not controlled by whether or not we pour water, but rather that our sacramental signs reveal the presence of the Spirit at work among us. And we have a double reinforcement of how this work is accomplished from a Letter and a Gospel bear-ing John’s name. It is love, self-sacrificing and self-giving love, that manifests the Spirit of Jesus in our midst. It is love that is the greatest of commandments. Our Lady of the Rosary Early Childhood Center provides a faith based structured preschool learning environ-ment. Our program starts at age 2 through the state funded VPK program. Our rigorous academics have been proven suc-cessful by the performance of our children going onto Kinder-garten. Our curriculum focuses on phonetic awareness, letter recognition, writing skills, reading strategies, and problem solv-ing activities. We offer two sessions, a morning preschool program and an afternoon program. We also offer extended hours when needed. Music Ministry A blessed Eastertide to all ! I am very grateful to all who participated in the music ministry for the liturgies of Holy Week and Easter. These are the high-est liturgical celebrations of our Church Year, and I thought it only fitting to bring in some extra reinforcements to join me in the choir area for Easter. Although we did have a small group of singers and instruments at these liturgies, I am still proceeding with caution with regard to bringing our music ministry back in full force. I am not bring-ing the choirs back at this time, and will likely continue through the remainder of the Easter Season with just a cantor at each Mass with me.
It is very encouraging to hear of so many that have gotten their COVID vaccinations, and to hear that the overall trend in COVID infections in our area and nation wide seem to be going down. I believe, however, that it is prudent for all of us to con-tinue to be vigilant, to adhere to the protocols, practice distanc-ing and masking, and pray for the end of the pandemic. As the song says, “we’ve come this far by faith”. So as we bask in the glory of this Easter Season, rejoicing in the triumph of Christ’s resurrection and what that means for all of us, may we continue to pray for one another, to remain safe and healthy, and keep our eyes fixed on the Lord our God. He is risen! Even as he said. Amen. Alleluia!

Love one another “Jesus said to his disciples: ‘As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.’” – John 15:9 Sometimes loving one another is easier said than done. In our use of words today we often describe people or events to the ex-
treme. “He’s the greatest ever!!” or “I hate this or that.” Same with the word “love,” such as “I LOVE Football!” or, “I love pizza” or “I just loved that movie.” The word, “Love” is a powerful word. When you tell someone you love them it can evoke an emotional re-sponse. You are sharing your deepest feelings and opening your soul to them. In today’s Gospel from St. John, Jesus tells His disciples, “As the Father loves me, so I love you. Remain in my love.” Jesus goes on to talk about the depth of His love, and that He would lay down His life for them. He later gives them a three-word command: “Love one another.” Our world today seems to be in constant turmoil and we see this on so-cial media. We hear cases of road rage and see violence on the news all the time. This is a contradiction of Jesus’s command to us to love one another. It’s easy to love your parent, relatives, and even a pet. Sure, you might become angry or upset with something they say or do, but you still love them. But what about the stranger—those in other vehi-cles, on social media, or on the other side of the political aisle? What about those on the side of the road asking for help? What about those of different skin color, faith traditions or sexual orientation? Jesus com-manded us to love all, not just a few.
That means showing compassion, mercy, and forgiveness, while sacrific-ing your personal feelings for the good of your brother or sister, friend or stranger. We are taught to hate the sin, but love the sinner. Have the courage to show love to someone who has offended you by forgiving them. And strive to love those who are difficult to love.

The Creed Following the readings and the homily, we stand together and say or sing the Creed, our profession of faith. The Creed is a solemn statement of belief, a “rule of faith” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, 67). It states the core of what we believe about God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The language of the Creed is knotty and difficult at times, precisely because its purpose is to express with precision what we believe about God. The Creed that we pray most often, the Nicene Creed, came out of the earliest ecumenical councils: Nicea in 325 and Constanti-nople in 381. It originated in a time of great controversy about the divinity of Christ, and thus the longest section of the Creed relates to Christ, truly human and truly God. The Creed is both communal and personal: it is “we,” but it is also “I.” In the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, it is only after listening to the teaching of the Church and professing faith in the Holy Trinity that the candidate is admitted to the sacra-ments. Saint Michael’s Ministry
As we reopen the Church and our Campus to the Faithful and Parish friends and visitors, Saint Michael’s Ministry will be there to help keep our community safe. This vital ministry helps provide for safety and security of everyone who visits here at OLOR, but
we desperately need new volunteers to help at our masses, at Young Disciples, Edge, and Life Teen. If you have been involved and would like to come back in January, or if you are new and would like to help in some capacity, please send an email to [email protected] or call the office (813) 949-4565. We need volunteers for our SAT (Safety helpers) SRT (Law enforce-ment and military background) to assist with keeping the children on campus safe while they learn about their faith and to assist and protect all visitors here at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish.
