Sunday of Easter 1st Reading: Acts 4:8-12

2nd Reading: 1 John 3:1-2 Gospel: John 10:11-18

Next Week’s Reflection: 5

th Sunday of Easter

1st Reading: Acts 9:26-31 2nd Reading: 1 John 3:18-24

Gospel: John 15:1-8 John speaks of Jesus doing the work of the Father. He knows the love and concern of the Father. The image of the vine and the branches reveals the union between Jesus and us. To-gether the vine, Jesus, and the branches, his disciples, bear much fruit. The One who causes to grow, prunes and trims is the Father. The works of Jesus become part of the disciple. We are to live as Jesus lived, to love as he loved. Jesus not only revealed God’s love for us, he gave evidence of this love “by laying down his life for us.” To be followers of Jesus we must give witness to him by our words and deeds. FOCUS: What do you need to prune in your life?

Did you know that our Prayer List for the Sick and the Military List are both online at www.spiritofchrist.org. under Prayer Intentions. They are also on the altar at mass for the priests in-tentions.

Adoration in the Chapel each Friday after 9am Mass until 5pm. Sign up to part of this wonderful way to pray in the chapel or on the counter.

Do you have a green thumb? Would you like to help tend the indoor plants or the exterior flower beds this sum-mer? Call Janette in the office.

ATTENTION! USHERS AND MUSICIANS Rick Fuller (Head Usher) and Myles Ogea (Music Director) have asked for a separate Safe Environment Training for these 2 groups. The date is: TUESDAY, MAY 8 AT 7:00PM IN THE SPIRIT CENTER WEST.

Maria Droste Counseling Center :MDCC improves lives by helping adults, children and families overcome obstacles such as the loss of a job, emotional trauma, poverty, illness and depres-sion. MDS was formed out of the understanding that people need access to counseling regardless of their ability to pay. We are committed to serving others with enthusiasm, empathy and hu-mility and we embrace and honor diversity in all its forms. Funds will support the Options and Children First programs. Options provide affordable counseling for working poor adults, children and families. Children First provides school based counseling services to hundreds of at risk children in the Denver area, so that they can develop new skills, improve peer relationships, focus on their academic performance and succeed in school.

Respect for Life Ministry meetings are every third Thursday of the month, same time, same place.

♦ Say Yes to Supporting Foster Kids: Monday, May 15th, 7PM, in the Spirit Center. Have you ever won-dered what it takes to become a foster parent? Have you ever considered fostering and not known where to start? Have you ever wondered how you can help support foster families? Come to our information and Q&A night. Please invite anyone and everyone you think would be interested! Light refreshments will be provided. Questions? Amanda Perreault: [email protected]

Fair Trade Products The Lenten Little Black Book discusses four levels of action for helping the poor. 1) Help those that are part of your own life. 2) Help those that are not directly connected to your own life, i.e. donations, etc. 3) Thinking about the causes of poverty. 4) By addressing the causes of poverty, the sys-tems and structures in society which impoverish peo-ple. This is where support of Fair Trade reaches small farm-ers to give them a chance for a decent life, hope and dignity of work. It's one way to address one of the many causes of poverty. We sell everything at cost, so it's more affordable for you, while supporting small farmers globally. We will be selling Fair Trade after all the masses on April 28/29.

Before you go… Please include Growing Home as

you plan for summer activities. Family vacations, cruises, pil-grimages and kids’ camp are great experiences to share. But some of our neighbors don’t have those options because they are homeless and struggling to keep their families together. Spirit of Christ will be hosting the Growing Home shelter for homeless families from June 3-10.

There are many ways to help:

• Volunteer to be an overnight host, provide dinner, set-up

or take-down bedrooms, or launder linens.

• Donate food, diapers and other needed items before the

families arrive. Remember doing works of mercy together is also a great fami-ly experience. We will have links to online sign-up for volunteering in next week’s Bulletin. We will have live sign-up for volun-teering and donations in the SOC gathering space on May 19

and 20. Please contact Vic at (303) 469-1791 or [email protected] with your questions. Thanks for your compassion.
