NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK November 4-10, 2018

National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and conse-crated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular voca-tions. NVAW began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for NVAW. In 1997, this celebration was moved to coin-cide with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which falls on January 13 in 2013. Beginning in 2014, NVAW was moved to the first full week of November.

“The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort.

You were made for greatness.” - Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

31° Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario † 04 de noviembre, 2018

“FOR I WAS ILL AND YOU CARED FOR ME….SICK AND YOU VISITED ME”.– Mathew 25:36,39: Baptist Health Floyd Hospital is looking for additional volunteers who would be willing to commit to one or more visits a month to fellow Catholic patients who are sick and suffering to provide prayer, parishioner support, and Eucharist. Most volunteers spend about 75-minutes per visit making rounds to those patients. You would be trained for the ministry, in part, by shadowing a current volunteer. Schedules will be done quarterly, with the next schedule starting in January 2019. If you are interested, contact Fr. Jere-my Gries, Pastor, Holy Family Catholic Church (812-944-8283 or [email protected]). ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY: If you feel a call to help the less fortunate in our community, the Society of St. Vincent DePaul offers an excellent opportunity. To obtain more information, call the Parish Office and ask for the St. Vincent DePaul line, then leave your name and number and say you are interested in learning more. A member of the Society will return your call and answer your questions. Or if you see Jim Bourne, Ruth Watson or Andrea Ammerman in church, they can answer any questions you might have. “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters,” Jesus said, “you do for me.”

MASS INTENTIONS: Each celebra-tion of the Mass is the offering of Christ to the Father as he did on the cross and therefore, is the per-fect prayer. At each Mass the priest offers this prayer for a partic-ular intention. To schedule a Mass

intention, please contact Ruth in the parish office (812-944-0417 or via email [email protected]) or there are envelopes in baskets at the doors of church that you can fill out and put in the collection basket. We are now scheduling for 2019 and will schedule as close as possible to date requested. We can only schedule two weekend Masses per person. The stipend offering for a Mass intention is $10.00.

The Social Justice Committee is collecting coats, blankets, and hooded sweatshirts for exit 0. All coats and sweatshirts need to be sizes XL to 5XL. Please drop these off in the box by the church doors. Jesus Cares At Exit 0, is a faith-based organization that has been serving the Southern Indiana area since November 2008. Meals and basic human needs are provided to the Jeffersonville area home-less and very low-income families. We support them as they are supported strictly on donations and are a volunteer-based organization. They serve a mobile unit to provide necessities as well as a weekly meal from Bates garage. There is only 1 shelter in a 7 county area and Exit 0 tries to meet the gap for people in these circumstances. Their mission is to meet needs and encourage finding employment through gaining proper identification and providing showering and laundering facilities for those without access. They are currently looking for a home base.
