A Significant Day “And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were” (Acts 2:2). The Holy Spirit’s arri-val on that first Pentecost was signaled by a rush of wind. We all know what it’s like when our windows are open just as a summer storm rises up. Curtains fly, papers become airborne, house plants shudder, dust is scattered. A rush of wind disrupts the orderliness of our home. The coming of the Holy Spirit, as celebrated each year at Pentecost, can also disrupt ways that have become comfortable and orderly. The Church always needs Pentecost. We need the breath of God’s Spirit to blow away any complacency or malaise that has settled into our faith. Jesus breathes on his disciples and they receive the Holy Spirit. With that recep-tion comes the power to share the Good News of salvation. Today, this is no less true for us. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Readings for the Week Monday: Sir 17:20-24; Ps 32:1-2, 5-7; Mk 10:17-27 Tuesday: Sir 35:1-12; Ps 50:5-8, 14, 23; Mk 10:28-31 Wednesday: Sir 36:1, 4-5a, 10-17; Ps 79:8, 9, 11, 13; Mk 10:32-45 Thursday: Sir 42:15-25; Ps 33:2-9; Mk 10:46-52 Friday: Sir 44:1, 9-13; Ps 149:1b-6a, 9b; Mk 11:11-26 Saturday: Sir 51:12cd-20; Ps 19:8-11; Mk 11:27-33 Sunday: Dt 4:32-34, 39-40; Ps 33:4-6, 9, 18-20, 22; Rom 8:14-17; Mt 28:16-20 “Rise, then, for this is your duty! We will stand by you, so have courage and take action!” Ezra 10: 4 I often see Christ reflected in YOU so it’s no surprise that when I read the Scriptures I can imagine us saying those encouraging words from the pages of the Bible to one another, too. As you know, I am about to joyfully begin my second year here as your D.R.E. at St. Anne and my primary responsibility in forming our family of faith is to invite catechists to join me in this important work. Remembering that God doesn’t call the qualified, but instead “qualifies the called”, I invite you to pray and consider how you might be of service to our Faith Formation Program in the fall. We are always in need of catechists, assistant catechists, substitute cate-chists, and floaters, and we teach only the first three weekends of the month from October through Easter. Won’t you please consider giving 6 months of stewardship to the children of St. Anne? “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. ”Galatians 6:9-10 Feel free to call or visit during my office hours at St. Anne (T.W.Th. noon-5pm) or by appointment, and we can talk about the possibilities for your involvement. I am truly loving this job and YOU are part of the reason why that is so. Know that I am praying for each of you and am looking forward to our mutual support of one another’s efforts on behalf of Jesus and His people at St. Anne. It is a pleasure to serve! Thank you, in advance, for all the ways YOU will be of service to our family of faith in the future. God bless you for it! I’ll close with words from Pope Francis in his address to Catechists last September: “Let us go forth and open doors. Let us have the audacity to mark out new paths for proclaiming the Gospel.” In His service and yours, LeAnn Rogan DIRECTOR of Religious Education, Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation for families with children age preschool through 5th grade

Baptism ~ Congratulations! If you plan to have your child baptized at St. Anne, please call the Parish Office to register for the next available Baptism Reflection (preparation).

Serving the Homeless of Kenosha The INNS Program is one of several programs offered by the Shalom Cen-ter. INNS shelters provide temporary emergency nightly shelter for homeless persons. The program operates in rotating church sites throughout Ke-

nosha 365 days a year with an average of 30 clients each night. The success of the program is dependent on indi-vidual, congregational and organizational outreach. For several years, St. Anne Catholic Church has been highly involved with the INNS Program. We have a ministry that provides meals and hospitality the 1st and 2nd Saturday night of each month. Historically we have served the winter months (October through April) but due to the need in the community, I have made a commitment to the Shalom Center that we will support this critical program year round. I am looking for families, youth groups, etc. to sponsor an evening this Spring/Summer. By sponsoring an evening, you will provide a warm meal and lunches for the clients and provide hospitality throughout the evening. We serve at the shelter from 6:30-10PM on Saturday evenings. Any-one over18 must have Safeguarding training. We currently have the 1st and 2nd Saturdays available and are in need of sponsorship through September. Please contact me if you are interested in this awesome opportunity to serve those in need in our community. This is a great opportunity for families! Thank you for your consideration! Vicki Alia ([email protected]) Grace Group Summer Plans Oremus Prayer Study. Oremus, which will focus on our prayer life. Do you find it easy to pray? Is prayer an inte-gral part of your day? This 8-week session includes a 30-minute DVD each time we meet, assigned scripture passages and a workbook for journaling and learning about different prayer types. Cost for this session is $16.00. Rainbow Hearts Retreat Sunday, May 31st 1-4pm, $5 Siblings of a special needs and/or medi-cally ill child have a unique faith journey. For that reason, St. Anne’s is offering a unique retreat just for them! It’s a time to come together with other siblings in a safe environment to share about the challenges that siblings face, to experience God’s love, make some new friends, and have

fun! This retreat is being lead by our own Erin Hook Tidd, a special education teacher, and Morgan Diaz, a foster care case manager. The two are not only sisters, but siblings of a special needs brother. Their goal with this retreat is to help other sibs come to know God’s calling for them as a very special sibling. This retreat is open to youth in 1st-12th grade who are siblings of a special needs and/or medically ill individual. To register for this retreat click on www.saint-anne.org on the formation page. Pajamas and Prayers: Thursday, June 11 For children and their families: NO registration required. NO age limits. Bedtime books, late-night lolli-pops, precious prayers… sound good? Perhaps you enjoy these wonderful traditions at home under the covers on a nightly basis with your children. We’d like to invite you to change up your night-time routine just once in a while to be with us here at St. Anne. Once per liturgical season parents are welcome to bring their kids in their jammies to hear stories (the lollipops help us stay quiet) and see a Veggie-Tale Video and close with prayers.
