RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION NOW THRU SEPTEMBER 1st

Religious Educa on registra on for all grade levels and sacramental prepara on is now un l September 1, 2015. Registra on for Religious Educa on requires Par-ish registra on. If you are not registered in the Parish, you may do so in the Parish Office before enrolling in Faith Forma on. The cost per child is $60.00 unless they are in their Con-firma on year (see below). This cost covers books, mate-rials, and building opera ons. Full payment of tui on is requested upon registra on, if possible. A deposit must be turned in at the me of registra on. Payments are permissible so long as they are completed by February 27th. You may register your child the following ways:

Grades K-8th: K thru 6th grade is on Sunday mornings: English – 9:00 – 9:50 am / Spanish 10:40 – 11:45 am 6th- 8th grade is on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm First Communion prepara on may begin in the sec-ond grade; the prepara on for the Sacrament is a two year process. GROWING IN FAITH: Adult Bible Study

Two different free Bible studies are being offered star ng Monday, September 14, 2015, in the Parish Dining Room. The studies will con nue on the following Mondays: September 21 and 28; October 5, 12, 19 & 26; and the last session will be Monday, November 9 (no class on Nov. 2).

A ernoon series, 2 pm - 3:30 pm: "Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible" from Ascension Press. It is a DVD presenta on, with small group discussion. You can register online at Evangeliza on.com and order your par cipant handbook ($19.95) at the same me. Although the workbooks aren't "mandatory", they will truly enhance your journey through “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible.”

Evening series, 6:30 pm - 8 pm: Doug Woelke will lead a Bible study focusing on the Scriptural Roots of the Mass. The study will delve into the Order of the Mass, ad-dressing biblical sources for the various parts of the Mass. Bring your bible!

This is a “mini-course” about “Ma hew, Mark and Luke” and offers a convenient op-portunity for you to learn about these three gospels and how they relate to one another. They are called Synop c Gospels because, if you line them up together, you can see at a glance (in Greek, syn-opsis means “with a glance”) that they are interconnected. This rela onship is known as the “synop c problem” and will be discussed early in the course. This course can be transferred for credit toward the cer ficate from the San Diego Diocesan Ins tute; it can also meet renewal credit hours (15) for catechists and teachers in the Diocese.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE

Según la creencia de los azte-cas, toltecas y otros indígenas, los niños y las niñas nacen sin rostro y corazón. Corresponde a la familia formar en ellos y ellas el rostro (la personalidad), y el corazón (ánimo/ mo vación) durante los primeros siete años de su vida. Rostro y corazón son una combinación para hablar de un tercer aspecto. En este caso rostro y corazón indican la per-sona bien formada. Los judíos de la época de Jesús también usaban ciertas palabras para indicar otras realidades. Cuer-po y sangre, por ejemplo, indican a la persona en su totali-dad. El cuerpo muestra el carácter de la persona, mientras que la sangre indica su ánimo o mo vación. Cuando Jesús nos invita a comer su Cuerpo y beber su Sangre nos está invitando a tomar su rostro y corazón. Nuestra personalidad debe ser como la suya y nuestra mo -vación también. De esta manera entramos en ín ma comu-nión con él, a quien comulgamos.
