` eSt. Peter Roman Catholic Church Mission Statement
Our mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by living
the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and
Service as taught by the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter
Parish is a community of dedicated Catholics centered on
the Eucharist, which is the source and the summit of all that
we do and hope to become. Approved August 19, 2014
PARISH SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive formation for First Holy Communion,
contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a
personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession
for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal
Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact
the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to
complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered, participating members of the Parish Family.
Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors receive a Baptismal Packet which must be
completed and received before attendance at a
Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A Baptismal date is determined after all Church
requirements are satisfied.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish
Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments
accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of
the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment. Also, contact the church office before
you contact anyone else in making funeral
arrangements. We are here to guide you through that most difficult time.

FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR NOVEMBER WORSHIP: In this month of November dedicated to The Holy Souls in Purgatory, we pray especially for the deceased members of St. Peter Church. May St. Peter, our patron, intercede for the grieving and welcome our deceased into the Glory of Heaven. FAITH FORMATION: For the young parents and children of our parish to be renewed in strength and courage against temptation as they seek to love Christ and His Church above all else so to become fully alive, reaching the great destiny that humanity has been made for. EVANGELIZATION: May we be fruitful and effective missionaries of evangelization where Christ Jesus can be witnessed in our humanity as our true King. SOCIAL JUSTICE: In this month, where as a Nation we celebrate Thanksgiving, may our hearts burn with gratitude for our many undeserved blessings as we remember those less fortunate than ourselves. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: In this month, dedicated to Stewardship of Gratitude, may we always remember to support our church parish family with our time, talent and treasure.
SAINT PETER ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
NOVEMBER 5, 2017
NATIONAL VOCATIONS
AWARENESS WEEK
NOVEMBER 5 - 11, 2017
As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life or to live as generous single people. Fully living our own vocations – and teaching young people how to discern God’s call – is a serious duty, but also a joyful one.
National Vocation Awareness Week, was instituted by the U.S. Bishops in 1976, and is now celebrated the first week of November. NVAW is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage the young people in your life – children, grandchildren, students, and friends – to be open if God calls them to priesthood or religious life.
HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR NOVEMBER
FOR EVANGELIZATION: Christians in Asia That Christians is Asia, bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed, may promote dialogue, peace, and mutual understanding, especially with those of other religions.
BLESSING OF EXPECTANT MOTHERS - This Sunday following the 10:00am Holy Mass, all expectant mothers are invited to receive a blessing for a safe delivery and the protection of their child.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5th
Remember to set your clock BACK one hour before going to bed on Saturday, November 4th!
FR LEDOUX AWAY FROM THE PARISH Fr. Ledoux will be away from the parish from Monday, Nov. 6th through Wednesday, Nov. 8th. Fr. will be traveling to MD Anderson in Houston for his six-month medical checkup. Please keep Fr. Ledoux in your prayers for safe travels and favorable test results.
PRAYER TO KNOW ONE'S VOCATION
Lord, my God and my loving Father, you have made me to know you, to love you, to serve you, and thereby to find and to fulfill my deepest longings. I know that you are in all things, and that every path can lead me to you.
But of them all, there is one especially by which you want me to come to you. Since I will do what you want of me, I pray you, send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind, to show me what you want of me; into my heart, to give me the determination to do it, and to do it with all my love, with all my mind, and with all of my strength right to the end. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen.
"Don't be afraid to say 'yes' to Him with all your heart, to respond generously and to follow Him! Don't let your soul grow numb, but aim for the goal of a beautiful love which also demands sacrifice."
~Pope Francis
HOFFMAN PIPE ORGAN
Dear Friends in Christ,
As follow-up to Fr. Ledoux’s recent presentation regarding substantial problems with the pipe organ, I respectfully ask that you please read carefully the letter below, written by Mr. Keith D’Anna, Director of Music / Choir Master / Organist, Our Lady of Fatima Church, Lafayette. Keith is a highly-respected pipe organist in the Lafayette area, whose knowledge about this amazing instrument is extensive. I appreciate Keith’s willingness to craft such a thoughtful and informative letter.
As you can see from Keith’s letter, the Hoffman Pipe Organ at St. Peter Church is one of only three Hoffman pipe organs in the Acadiana region. There is little I can add to Keith’s compelling and well-articulated support for the proper repair, maintenance, and upkeep of our Hoffman pipe organ. As Fr. Ledoux indicated several weeks ago, the needed repairs to our pipe organ will cost an estimated $63,000. This is significantly less than the cost of a new and comparable pipe organ. I humbly ask that you consider prayerfully making a donation specifically to this endeavor, in order to offset pipe organ repair costs. It is important to note that the pipe organ repair project was not previously anticipated. As such, it is not among the various projects that comprise our parish’s capital campaign. Donations to the pipe organ repair can be made by simply contacting Cindy Courville at the parish office or speaking directly to Fr. Ledoux about a donation. I am so very grateful to Fr. Ledoux for his dedication and commitment to this important project. Moreover, I am equally grateful to the members of the St. Peter Trustees & Finance Committee, who assented to Fr. Ledoux’s request that the parish proceed with these essential repairs to our pipe organ. Thank you for your prayers and consideration.
Yours in Christ,
Michael W. Totaro Parishioner and Sacred Music Coordinator St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Carencro, Louisiana
August 14, 2017 Dear Parishioners of St. Peter
My name is Keith D’Anna and I am the Director of Music, Choir Master and Organist at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lafayette, a position I have held since October of 2013. Along with my musical duties I am also responsible for improvements and maintenance of the Kegg / Hoffman Pipe Organ which was rebuilt and augmented in 2015. I received a Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from LSU in 1986 and continued my studies toward the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree. I have been privileged to serve the Catholic Church as a Director of Music and Organist / Choir Master for 45 years.
Your pastor, Fr. Ledoux, contacted me in 2016 concerning your historic Hofmann Pipe Organ. The mechanical, and tonal difficulties with the organ were becoming more and more pronounced and needed to be addressed. I recommended he contact the P.H. Swartz Company/Pipe Organ Services to evaluate the current condition of the organ and make recommendations for its repair. The P.H. Swartz Company maintains the Kegg / Hoffman Organ at Our Lady of Fatima and their professionalism and attention to detail is evident in their work.
I was present when the P.H. Swartz Company evaluated the organ and I am in complete agreement with their recommendations for repair. Although visually and tonally beautiful, a pipe organ must be properly maintained for it to operate at peak capability. While periodic tuning of the pipes and oiling of the blower (the fan that supplies air to the pipes) are necessary, other important areas must be addressed periodically such as re-leathering of the main reservoirs (bellows that keep the air pressure steady), re-leathering of the pitmans (the individual pipe valves), and servicing and possible updating of the switching system which opens and closes the pipe valves. The combination action (which allows quick registration changes for the organist) also needs to be evaluated and updated.
The Hofmann Pipe Organ at St. Peter is truly a gem of Acadiana and part of the rich heritage and legacy of premiere pipe organ builder Otto Hofmann. Mr. Hofmann built organs throughout the state of Louisiana and his mantra was “every church deserves and should have a pipe organ.” You have at St. Peter one of three Hofmann organs in this area (Our Lady of Fatima in Lafayette, St. Mary Magdalen in Abbeville, and your beautiful church of St. Peter in Carencro). In Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, it states, “Among all other instruments which are suitable for divine worship, the pipe organ is ̒ accorded pride of placeʼ because of its capacity to sustain the singing of a large gathered assembly, due to both its size and its ability to give “resonance to the fullness of human sentiments, from joy to sadness, from praise to lamentation.” Likewise, “the manifold possibilities of the organ in some way remind us of the immensity and the magnificence of God.”
The Hofmann Pipe Organ at St. Peter will serve the faith community in Carencro for another 50 to 70 years if the necessary repairs are carried out. It’s rebuilding and renovation would be a testament of the community’s love for the liturgy and worship of Our Lord. I will do everything that I can to assure you that the repairs are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
Respectfully yours, Keith M. D’Anna: Director of Music / Choir Master / Organist Our Lady of Fatima Church Lafayette, LA

“JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”
Jesus to St. Faustina: "This firm resolution to become a saint is extremely pleasing to Me. I bless your efforts and will give you opportunities to sanctify yourself. Be watchful that you lose no opportunity that My providence offers you for sanctification. If you do not succeed in taking advantage of an opportunity, do not lose your peace, but humble yourself profoundly before Me and, with great trust, immerse yourself completely in My mercy. In this way, you gain more than you have lost, because more favor is granted to a humble soul than the soul itself asks for." (Diary 1361)

Stewardship is the grateful response of a Christian disciple who recognizes and receives God's gifts and shares
these gifts in love of God and neighbor.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS AND
STEWARDSHIP! BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT,
WE HAVE A WONDERFUL PLACE OF WORSHIP.
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
In today’s Gospel, Jesus lays judgment on the scribes and Pharisees for the hypocritical way they lived out their faith. The criticisms He levies are all about the ways righteousness turns into self-righteousness, and how religious belief turned into something that was more about elevating themselves than about what they could do for God or their neighbor. Good stewards know that discipleship means finding ways to serve, and searching for ways to be a servant – to live as a servant of Christ. When faith is authentically lived out in community everyone is enriched and God is glorified. Reflect this week on how you live out your faith.
ROSARY FOR PEACE The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
