What do I need?

Step by step guide

1 Launch the YouTube Kids app on the device.

2 Tap the search icon to switch the search function off or on theapp

3 Tap the padlock icon in the right-hand corner of the screen tosee the parental controls.

4 On this screen enter the numbers or click ‘Set my ownpasscode’ to see the controls.

5 Click on the ‘Timer’ icon to set a time limit on the app

6 Tap on ‘Settings’ to see the app settings options

7 On the setting menu, tap ‘Homescreen age level’ and you’ll beable to make the homescreen age-appropriate for your child. Youcan choose from ‘All kids’, ‘Pre-school ‘ or ‘School age’.

8 You can also create a password from the settings menu.

9 By tapping on the ‘Clear history’ this will remove all loggedvideos that your child has watched, searched and that the app hasrecommended to them based on their viewing habits.

10 You can stop the app from recording their history by switching‘Pause history’ on.

11 To report inappropriate videos on the app, tap the video to seethe three button icon in the righthand corner of the video.

12 Tap the report icon and select from the options ‘Inappropriateaudio’ or ‘Inappropriate visuals’. If you are signed in whenreporting the video it will be automatically blocked from theYouTube Kids app. YouTube say:”Flagged videos are reviewed 24hours a day, seven days a week and will be removed from theYouTube Kids app if necessary.”

13 Choose approved content only Tap the Lock icon in the bottomcorner of any page in the app then complete the multiplicationproblem or read and enter the numbers that appear. Or, enteryour custom passcode

14 Select Settings then select your child’s profile and enter yourparent account password to modify settings

15 Select Approved content only to enable. Review the informationin the ‘Getting started’ pop-up.

16 Select START. Tap the + icon on any collection, channel or videoto approve content that you’d like to make available to your child.Then Select DONE in the red box at the bottom of the screen toexit.
