Parent Tips – Homework Support Strategies
• Set a routine from the beginning • Make homework time tech-free time • Communicate homework is not an option • Encourage and plan together • Offer help only if needed • Set a consequence if homework is complete/
incomplete and follow through • Take pride in work submitted

• Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast
• Be sure they arrive at school on time • Contact the school if absent or tardy • Contact your child’s teacher when you have a
question or to get a progress report • Explain the importance of focusing and listening • Let them know it is okay to make mistakes • Make time for play and to talk with your child
