EOTC programmes provide students with access to hands-on experiences that are not available inside the classroom. They offer unique and stimulating learning opportunities that support your child’s learning and achievement. These programmes are aligned with the National Curriculum.

 Procedures  

In Year 6 trips may be up to a week taking the form of an outdoor education and camping experience to develop independence, confidence and self reliance. For stays involving overnight or longer accompanying adults are required to be Police checked.

Supervision of out of school activities will comply with Ministry of Education regulations and guidelines on safety and supervision, risk management, leadership and legal requirements. School Pupil/Adult ratios to be 1 adult per 5 children where water/machinery are involved.1 adult per 10 children for general visits

Needs ListSuitcase- great for fitting under a bunk and finding things!

Jandals, Sandals or other suitable footwear for around camp

Sneakers or suitable footwear for walking(2 pairs if possible as 1 pair will get

wet)

Socks - 5 pairs (1 Woollen if possible)

Shorts - for hiking and around camp wear

Two pairs of jeans or longs for warmth/in case a change is

needed and for horse riding

Four T-shirts – 2 with long sleeves, e.g. tops, skivvies etc

Underwear (one weeks supply)

Two Warm jerseys or sweatshirts or polar fleece

Raincoat or Parka (waterproof)

Pyjamas

Camp Rules1. This Camp will be a new experience for many of you. It is not a holiday camp, so the main rule that we have at School applies at Camp too. That is, behave sensibly and show consideration for others. 2. Think safety at all times. Accidents usually happen when people are careless. 3. Never go off anywhere by yourself. Check in with your leader for all activities, meal times, and duties. Remember which areas are out of bounds.

Camp Rules4. Remember the outdoor code. No live trees must be cut

or damaged and avoid disturbing any animal life. Do not collect unnecessarily. Treat the camp as you would your home. Remember we have to pay for any damage.

If children cause damage as a result of disobeying rules, families will be given the bill.

Camp Rules ctd… 7 Be willing to join in and try new experiences and use your five senses. The more you try the more you will learn. Set yourself a new challenge every day. 6. Consideration for others : 

- in your cabin.- at meal times- at quiet times- in group activities- in games- in personal cleanliness.

7. Look after your health. You will be very busy during the day so make sure that you get enough food and rest. Make sure you put sunscreen on every day and reapply throughout the day. 8. Come and see your group leader, Mrs Brieseman or Whaea Kelly if you have a problem that is bothering you. 9. Bush - no live trees are to be damaged. 10. All buildings, including toilets, must be left clean and tidy.

Boat Rules1. You may explore the ship but you must

always be in your group.

2. You must report to the group assembly point as

directed by the adult in charge of your group

3. You must behave in a sensible manner at all

times and have consideration for other

passengers

4. You must not play running games

5. Stay away from the games rooms/slot machines

6. You must complete the Boat Activity sheet
