Step 1: Measuring Your Wrist

1. Wrap a string, cord, or small rope around your wrist. Make sure itis very snug. Not overly tight, but do not make it loose.2. Take a marker and draw a line across the two crossing

cords/strings.3. I've darkened my lines in photoshop to demonstrate what it shouldlook like in this step.4. Now measure from the first line to the second line.

In this example my wrist measure around 20,32 centimeters. Sowhen I go to measure for my bracelet I'm going to add 1 inch to thatmeasurement. This will be further explained in steps to come.

Step 2: Melting The Ends

1. Take your lighter and melt the ends for 3-4 seconds.2. With your fingers (you may want to wet them or lick them) or apair of pliers squeeze the melted end to form a nice, thin end.

Step 3: Completing The First Cow Hitch

Throughout this step you will make a cow hitch on the male part of the buckle. Follow the numbered instructions below which coincidewith the numbers in the diagram.

1. Fold your cord in half so the two ends meet. Place both endsthrough the cord like shown in the diagram.2. Place the two ends back through the loop created in step one andpull 1 of the cords through until the knot is tightened.3. Adjust the cords so one cord is hanging out about 2,54centimeters, and the other one is the rest of the cord like shown inpart 3 of the diagram.

Step 4: Making Your Second Cow Hitch And Making Your

First Measurement.

1. Take the long piece of cord you have left and place it through thefemale part of the buckle like shown in part 1 of the diagram.

2. In part 2 of the diagram you are going to make your firstmeasurement. You will have to "double check" your measurementthis exact way after you are done with the second cow hitch. Lineyour ruler/tape measure up with the middle of the male buckle andadjust your female buckle part so it lines up with the measurementyou got in step one. Remember to add 2,54 centimeters to themeasurement you got in step 1. If your wrist was 17,78 centimeters, you will want the female part of the buckle in this step to line up with20,32 centimeters on the ruler/tape measure. My wrist was 20,32centimeters in step 1, and in part 2 of this diagram my measurement

goes to 22,86 centimeters (it's hard to see sorry).3. Now take your loose cord again, and come back up through thefemale buckle. This is going to seem like your canceling out or pullingthe cord back through the buckle.4. Pull the cord through until you are left with a little loop like shownin part 4 of the diagram.

Step 5: Completing Your Second Cow Hitch And Re-

Measuring

1. Like shown in part 1 of the diagram, place your male part of thebuckle through the loop created in step 4.

2. Now place the loose cord through the same loop.3. It should now look like this.4. Pull everything tight and you should have your second cow hitch.5. Adjust everything again so it all lines up with your measurement instep 4. Measure again in this step to insure you still have the correctmeasurement.

Step 6:Weaving The Loose Cord Through The First Cow

Hitch

1. Take your loose cord and weave it from underneath the malebuckle part, through the middle of the cow hitch.

2. Now continue the loose cord underneath the "loop" part of the cowhitch. Part 3 of the diagram shows this a little better.3. A better angle of what we are trying to achieve in this step.4. Pull the loose cord through all the way until it's all nice and tight. Itshould look like part 4 of the diagram.

FINALLY! Now your loose end of the cord is ready to braid thebracelet itself.

Step 7: Starting Your Fishtail Braid

When braiding the bracelet we will call the two cord that are runningfrom top to bottom the "core cords" the on on the left will be corecord 1 and the one on the right will be called core cord 2. These are

the cords you will be braiding around AKA the "core" of the bracelet.

1. This is what your setup should look like.2. Take your bracelet cord and wrap it around the back of core cord 1and up through the middle of the two core cords.3. Tighten your cord up and prepare for second weave.4. Continue the loose cord around the back of core cord 2 and upback through the middle of the two core cords.5. Tighten your braids again.

Step 8: Continuing Your Fishtail Braid

•  When braiding the bracelet we will call the two cord that arerunning from top to bottom the "core cords" the on on the left willbe core cord 1 and the one on the right will be called core cord 2.

These are the cords you will be braiding around AKA the "core" of the bracelet.

•  You are going to repeat step 7 now. We will demonstrate thebraid one more time in this step then you're on your own untilyou get down to the bottom!

1. Weave your loose cord under core cord 1 and up through themiddle of the two core cords.2. Tighten your braid.3. Weave your loose cord under core cord 2 and up through the

middle of the two core cords.4. Tighten your braid. ALSO: Part 4 of the diagram shows you the the"break down" of the weave that your are doing. It's pretty simple. You are simply weaving in and out, in and out.

Step 9: What It Will Look Like And How To End

1. This is what it will look like half way down.

2. End like this once you get down to the female part of the buckle.

Step 10: Ending And Tying Off Your Bracelet

Take your time on this step it can get a little confusing.

1. Take your loose cord and wrap it underneath both "core cords".

2. Continue the loose cord through the middle of both "core cords" onthe top.3. This part of the diagram shows you what it should look like. Followthe "blown up" part of the diagram for an easy to follow image. Theweave is shown by using numbers starting with 1 and ending with 5.4. This part of the diagram shows you what the underneath sideshould look like. Notice the numbers 2, 3 and 5. Numbers 2 and 3form a loop underneath on the inside of the bracelet which you willuse in the following step.

Step 11: Ending And Tying Off Your Bracelet Part 2

1. Pull the loose end through the loop created in the previous step.2. Pull everything nice and tight and prepare to cut the excess cord.

Remember to make sure it's nice and tight before you cut the excesscord.

Step 12: Cutting And Melting The End

1. Cut the excess cord leaving roughly 6.35 mm.2. This is what it should look like before you melt and form it.3. Use your lighter to melt the end for roughly 3-4 seconds or until allthe frays are gone. Using your fingers or some pliers squeeze the endso it forms a nice, flat end. Remember this is going to be against yourwrist so you don't want a sharp or bumpy end.4. This is what it should look like when done.
