Jesus refers to a new kind of scribe, one instructed (μαθητευθείς, lit. “having been instructed (μαθητευθείς, lit. “having been made a disciple”) τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν, “in the kingdom of heaven,” i.e., concerning the nature of the kingdom as it has been the nature of the kingdom as it has been taught through the parables.

May we have ears to hear and may we ‘understand’ i.e bring together the truths of the parables and our perception of together the truths of the parables and our perception of

the world, church and God– may we be discipled scribes for we can only give what we have received
