The entire Breitbart-Sherrod-NAACP-Tea Party mess is a lesson inhow the left tries to sabotage andundermine conversations that don’tsuit it. It’s a real time event version ofwhat the Daily Caller chronicles inthe Jornolist archives show about themedia strategizing against Palin. The Democrats used their NAACPorganization to try and brand the TeaParty as racist, thereby changing theconversation from criticisms of theObama Administration, to an attackon the Tea Party itself, in order todelegitimize it, and discourage peoplefrom participating it. Breitbart’sSherrod attack was the equivalent ofthe “plate glass window” strategy thatJornolist members proposed to use byprotecting Jeremiah Wright, by goingon the offense against a Republicanfigure. The entire Sherrod soap operaserved as a warning about thepolitical uses of racism, and itchanged the conversation fromwhether the Tea Party is racist, towhether the NAACP is racist .Breitbart understands this. Many ofhis critics at some conservative blogsdon’t. These are ugly tactics, but they maybe the only kind that work in anenvironment dominated by ruthlessfar left agendas in both the media andthe political sphere. Similarly the Daily Caller’s Jornolistarchives have made the invisiblewizards behind the media coverageinto the subjects, which is somethingthey don’t want to be, unless it’s theoccasional flattering profile. TheJornolist archives going publicundermines the wall of silencesurrounding the media club. In the 2008 election, the media leftkept changing the conversation overand over again. It won in part bybeing able to do that enough times,that the real issues were never heard.But now the left is having troubledoing it. They’ve tried to launchattacks on the opposition. They’vetried glamor and photo ops. But it’sstill the economy, stupid. And theyhave found no real way to change thetopic for very long. So now it’s come down to bareknuck le s . And Bre i tba r t ha sdemonstrated that with a limitedbudget, and no official politicalbacking, he can still change theconversation. And seriously impactwhat is going. Which is more thanmany of his conservative critics havebeen able to do. And until they can do that, it mightbe time to get out of Breitbart’s way. Moving on, remember when GeorgeW. Bush was being blasted by

liberals for saying, “You’re eitherwith us, or you’re against us.” Bushwas talking about the terrorists. Butliberals have revived the term for adomestic purge from the party. He said he supports primaries asneeded to keep the party’s moralcompass. “We have to do our vettingprocess. You’re either with us, oryou’re against us in the progressivemovement in America,” he said. So “You’re with us or against us” iswrong when applied to terrorists, butright when applied to conservativeDemocrats. And that highlights the differencesbetween Republicans who wanted touse strong tactics to protect allAmericans f rom terror is ts , vsDemocrats who want to use harshtactics to win their ideological wars inorder to repress all Americans. The police union for the Germanstate of North Rhine-Westphalia(NRW) stunned Germans this weekwhen it announced it would bringpolicemen from Turkey to help patrolthe turbulent s t ree ts of someimmigrant neighbourhoods in NRWcities. With this announcement, thestate’s police administration isadmitting domestic police forces canno longer handle violent Turkish ando t h e r y o u t h s o f i m m i g r a n tbackgrounds inhabi t ing thesequar te rs .… According to Die Welt, the Turkish

police would patrol the immigrantTurkish areas in their own uniformstogether with German policemen. Which would mean a Turkishoccupation force functioning in theheart of Europe. And if Germanydoesn’t go for it, how long beforeFrance decides that it might be a goodsolution. Especially with automaticweapons being used against Frenchpolice. Sarkozy’s proposed MediterraneanUnion might pave the way forMuslim occupation forces patrollingParis. For European authorities, theadvantage of such an arrangementwould be no more worries aboutracism or the use of force. Of courseit would also mean an acceleratedcourse to Eurabia, and the last gaps ofEurope. Farfetched, again not really. We’re muchbetter at dealing with insurgents andterrorists, but we may not be readyfor a conventional war anymore. And the Obama Administration runby left wing radicals has r edoubledits attack on the US military Despi te the C-17’s mi l i t a ryimportance and humanitarian utility,the Obama administrat ion hassignaled that it will stop purchasingthe C-17. Yet the need for C-17s willcontinue to grow because each yearolder, less reliable, and less capable C-5A airlifters dating back to the 1960sare being retired from the fleetbecause they are over 40 years oldand beginning to fail. C-17s areneeded to fill the void. We will needmore C-17s simply to maintain ourm i l i t a r y a n d h u m a n i t a r i a nc a p a b i l i t i e s . Yet if the administration gets its wayand effectively shuts down the C-17program, just a few short years downthe road we taxpayers will have topay out billions to ramp up a newplane and production line or we’ll beforced to go to the Russians or theFrench in hopes that they will bail usout by selling us or leasing to ussecond-rate airlift aircraft. One migh t a s sume tha t theadministration is cutting the C-17program to save taxpayers hundredsof billions of dollars, but the cost ofthe needed five C-17s in 2011 is aslittle as $1.3 billion — total, not perplane. Choosing to cut the C-17program to save only $1.3 billion in2011, will cost U.S. taxpayers tens ofbillions of dollars in the years thatfollow, and possibly make ourmilitary dependent upon the Russiansor the French. This “budget cutting” plan is like ahomeowner refusing to patch a holein their roof to arguably save $200this month, when in the followingmonths the repair costs will skyrocketinto the thousands of dollars. Additionally, with unemployment ator near record levels, why would wewant to kill off the wide-bodymilitary aircraft business in theUnited States and effectively exportthose jobs to France or Russia? C-17production supports over 30,000 jobsin 44 states and provides an annualeconomic impact of $5.8 billion tothe U.S. economy. If this sounds familiar, the ObamaAdministration did the same thing toNASA. The end result is that we haveno space program. And NASA is nowa self-esteem clinic for Muslims, anda playground for global warmingfanatics. Apply that same paradigm tothe military, and you wind upcrippling international operations.

It related theantics of two bachelors who crashedweddings in the hope of meetingeligible women. Jewish tradition also deals with theissue of unexpected wedding guests,but of a highly different nature. A brief look at the three types ofvisitors who might “crash” a Jewishwedding provides wonderful insightinto the law and lore of Jewishvalues, as well as a profoundunderstanding of the Jewish weddingitself. The three unexpected “crashers”include departed souls, the Creator, and the poor andneedy. While conventional texts of Jewishlaw make almost no mention ofafterlife, according to the Zohar, theclassic work of Jewish mysticism,souls of departed ancestorsm maywell be present at the wedding. It writes: “Even though his (thegroom’s) father and mother havedeparted from this world, theyparticipate in every ’simcha’(joyousoccasion). The Holy One, Blessed BeHe, goes to the Garden of Eden andtakes the groom’s father and mother,who are partners with the Creator (ingiving birth to the groom) and bringsthem along with Him to the simcha. And all of them are present but thepeople are unaware.” Other opinions go so far as to saythat even the grandparents and great

grandparents are present as well. What’s so remarkable about thispassage is not only that the souls ofthe departed participate in thewedding, but the Creator, Himself,takes them by the hand, so to speak,and personally escorts them to thewedding. And, as if this were notenough, the Creator too is a guest atevery wedding! Being the skeptic and rationalist thatI am , I never placed much faith inthis idea until the birth of myyoungest son, eleven years ago. Several months before he was bornmy mother passed away. When we conducted his “brit milah”(circumcision) eight days after hisbirth, as is traditionally done, I hadthe strangest feeling that my deceasedmother was amongst the celebrants. I can’t explain it, but I felt herp r e s e n c e n e a r . I h a d n e v e rexperienced that feeling prior to thisevent, nor have I since. But I’mconvinced, on that special morning,she was with us. The third type of Jewish weddingcrashers I’ve become accustomed tosee are more prevalent in Israel thanin America. These are those whomthe Kabbalah refers to as society’s“broken vessels”. The poor, thehungry, and the homeless. At my own wedding, twenty sixyears ago in New York, the planningof seating arrangements was a majorundertaking. Taking care to makesure that each guest was seated withthe right people, required considerable thought and sensitivity.Every table and chair was carefullyaccounted for. In Israel, where I’ve lived for the lasttwenty five years, weddings are muchmore informal. Usually there is not reserved seating.Guests tend to sit wherever they feel

comfortable.It is not uncommon atIsraeli weddings for a number ofuninvited guests to also attend. Theseinclude the indigent and the lessfortunate members of society. Jewish law is very explicit in it’sdemands that the wedding feast is notcomplete unless such guests arepresent and seated. The groomhimself must take special care topersonally attend to these guests andshow them honor and appreciation.He must do his utmost to make themfeel welcome. In reward for such behavior the brideand groom are assured a life ofhappiness and blessing.
