What is PARA?

The Mission

• To better understand and educate people on how to indentify

and serve victims of human trafficking

How can we accomplish each acronym?

THE PARA Project is a bilateral project of the BSCC spanning the

U.S.-Mexico border to protect men women and children and others from the injustices of Human

Trafficking and exploitation.  PARA seeks to end trafficking through four

major tenants:  

1)Prevention:

BSCC will partner with NCMEC in their CASE campaign to combat child trafficking and sexual exploitation, BSCC will advocate for victims rights, continue to do outreach and policy changes

2)Awareness: Getting the word out using media

forums and conferences, about what trafficking is, and how to spot it

3) Reporting: Giving people the power to report their suspicions toauthorities Through the BSCC emergency number and 211 will be provided cross disciplines County wide.Our responders will eliminate the fear of contact with police and federal agents; Our Hope poster will be distributed

county-wide.

4) Action: PARA makes the case that there is no true reform withoutaction.Through BSCC PARA project and its programs will bring

together people from all ages, ethnicities, wage earners, genders, and political persuasions.

Prevention/PrevencionThrough education:

• Be careful on the sites that you visit.• Do not talk to strangers on the web. • Think before you run away.• Teen dating, violence and more. Don’t

date at an early age• Choose your friends wisely. Do not join

any gang.• Stay in school. Education is the key to

success.

• Be involved in extracurricular activities such as sports, art, and music; participate in community service, etc.

• Obey your parent (s)/ guardians).• Educate the students and the people

about human trafficking• Give free presentations at elementary,

high school, colleges, and universities about human trafficking.

• Be aware of your surroundings. Victims may just be right next to us, we just need to be more alert and aware.

Awareness/Atencion

Outreach• Distributing fliers and human trafficking awareness cards• Assist in curfew sweeps• Have an art show/exhibit that illustrates

and shine light upon the horrors and reality of human trafficking art by youth

• Create blogs contest and sites that supports anti-human trafficking efforts

• Provide Community Service for Youth in our Thrift store

Reporting/Reportar

• Don’t hesitate to report, there is always someone who can help a human trafficking victim.

• Take as much information as you can, this can be crucial to rescuing trafficking victims.

• Be safe at all times; be aware of your surroundings as well as the people that you interact with.

• Contact the emergency hotline of the authorities/police when in doubt or suspicion of a person’s situation. Human trafficked victims look just like the rest of us.

• Do not put yourself in danger. Tell someone who is of authority or has more experience in rescuing victims about the information that you gather regarding a trafficked victim. Do not rescue or act by yourself.

• Make sure that the victim is safe.

• Be proactive in reporting a crime. Always make sure that you are safe before you report what you know that involves human trafficking.

• Talk to your friends, acquaintances, and families about human trafficking. You may not know someone who is a victim, but they may know of victims.

Make sure that the victims and the person helping the victim are both safe through the process of getting help
