EMR for Eye Care Professionals
The ifa group is the leading international provider for electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) and picture archive and communication systems (PACS) in ophthalmology. Every day more than 10.000 eye care professionals and their teams around the world use the famous software with the “red dot”. The EMR and PACS applications are available in 10 languages and are installed in more than 20 countries around the world. Every day ifa systems manage more than 200.000 patient cases and more than 80 million patient visits are stored in local and wide area ifa networks for more than 20 years.

Connectivity with Guarantee
The quality of professional EMR/EHR software can be measured by its ability to integrate with equipment and other systems. For this reason, a qualifi ed software must include import and export interfaces to all kind of ophthalmic instruments, practice management systems (PMS) and hospital information systems (HIS). The most important standards are HL7 and DICOM. The IHE project for eye care, initiated by the American Academy of Ophthalmolgy (AAO), has the goal to evaluate and support these standards. The ifa PREMIUM EMR is 100% IHE compliant.
The ifa Premium EHR (V6) is certifi ed accord-ing to do ONC (US Government) requirements for the IHE incentive program (stimulus).

EMR dedicated to Ophthalmology
Structured data for „meaningful use“ are the key for success. The ifa group of companies provides „turnkey solutions“ based on compatible data sets for all subspecialties in ophthalmology (such as cataract and refractive surgery, retinal diseases, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, oculoplastics etc.). The unique ifa data model supports international open standards (such as IHE Eye Care with DICOM and HL7, SNOMED and LOINC terminology.

EHR requirements for ophthalmologists are now defined by the AAO
Below are the special requirements that the AAO now recommends for electronic health record systems (EHRs) in ophthalmology. Naturally, certification by the Office of the National Coordinator for “meaningful use” as an EHR system is already essential. These additional items are classified as either “Essential” for current systems or as “Desirable” for current systems but eventually essential for future systems. The ifa PREMIUM EMR is 100% compliant with these requirements.
