• Students in the SASD will produce quality images and objects that effectively communicate and express ideas using varied media, techniques and processes.

Benchmarks

• Students will produce quality art using complex problem-solving, individual style, technical skill of media and craftsmanship.

• Students will demonstrate and apply the elements and principles of design in the production of 2-D and 3-D compositions.

Terms

• Color – primary, secondary, tertiary, complementary, neutral, triadic, tetradic, warm or cool.

• Craftsmanship – presentable; professional in appearance• Technical Skill – ability to work with materials, tools, techniques effectively• Armature - a framework used by a sculptor to support a figure being

modeled in a plastic material.• Sculpture in the Round – form; sculpture viewable from all angles.• Additive Method - the process of building out the different shapes by

adding little pieces to the main structure• Subtractive Method - Subtractive sculpting is the opposite (carving/taking

away from the main sculpture• Proportion - harmonious relation of parts to each other or to the whole.
