MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR OF PRAIANO Dear Guest, Welcome to the sixth edition of La Notte Bianca - THE WHITE NIGHT, supported and organised by the Town Hall and the Tourist Office of Praiano. A gorgeous atmosphere with music, shows, concerts, art, friendship and culture. After the extraordinary success of visitors during last years, prepare ourselves to live again this charming atmosphere of Events for a whole night. La Notte Bianca will involve main areas of our town with art, music, food, markets, ancient traditions for an experience, which we hope, will be for you very true and inspiring. La Notte Bianca will be the exceptional opportunity to live Praiano, its special sites, its streets and fabulous squares where inhabitants of Praiano will welcome you! La Notte Bianca – Notte Tricolore (the colors of the Italian flag), this year is dedicated at the anniversary of 150 years of the unification of Italy . This Night Praiano will became a theater of a big national feast, involving our guests into concerts, shows, lights and reflection moments. I would also point out the event “Barche Della Solidariètà ” (Paper boat for Solidarity), to show our solidarity for refugees who left North Africa and died before getting to the Italian coasts, to join a freedom dream.

Concert touring special edition for the Notte Bianca

A special project for “The White Night in Praiano”: a show dedicated to the great celebration of 150 years of Italy, several collections of Italian folk songs published around the end of the nineteenth century and a rich repertoire of traditional dances and serenades Italian folk: jigs, jacks, ballarelle, pinch, and especially tammurriate, tarantella the dance master of many musical traditions of our region.

Ambrogio Sparagna as the Maestro, supported by extraordinary energy and skill of the musicians of the Orchestra, gives a big party-spectacle that manages to animate the square, following the rhythms of popular dances, including accordions, guitars, mandolins and drums. During the show, the audience become “the main carachter”: invited from the Maestro Ambrogio Sparagna to dance, to clap, to smile and to whistle a tune. So captivated by the energy of rhythm and fascinated by the variety and originality of the sounds of folk instruments and the strength of the voices that sing so many different dialects from various Italian regions, the public finds himself reliving extraordinary charm and emotions typical of the old Italian peasant festivals .

At the end of the show the orchestra and the maestr o Ambrogio Sparagna will walk crossing the streets of Praiano with all the parti cipants, through Moressa Square until to reach Piazza San Gennaro.

PAPER BOATS FOR SOLIDARITY Thousands of paper boats “tricolori” the colors of the Italian flag, will installed at Piazza Antico Seggio , to show our solidarity for refugees who left North Africa and died before getting to the Italian coasts, to join a freedom dream. The event is organized by the Staff of Luminaria di San Domenico , composed only of children from 7 to 12 years old. All t together will launch fire balloons, containing peace and solidarity phrases for all the refugees.
