Winning Cover shot: “Holiday ” theme
“ R ockefeller Center Christmas ” was created on Dec 11, 2006 using FujiFilm FinePixS2Pro and
K-6 gyro with 28-70mm at 42mm, f=2.8 and ISO 1600, 1/60th sec from a Schweizer 300. It was a
perfect night to fly . . . cold, crisp and still air. Everybody knows there is nothing like Christmas
time in New York, and nothing reflects the season like the famous Christmas Tree in Rockefeller
Center . . . and that is what I set out to try and capture. On this flight, I was shooting only for my-
self and my own stock inventory.
It was a very difficult shoot because there were 4 small randomly moving spotlights and every time
I would press the shutter, one of them would shine directly into the camera . . . I finally was able to
get one with all 4 spotlights shining elsewhere, and it turned out to be a hit . . . to date, it is my
9th best- selling image.

As another year comes to a close, I hope that each of you have seen some 'light at the end of the
tunnel'. I know business has been very difficult for everyone, and life's challenges are always there
to overcome. Let us remember the many blessings and freedoms that we have, and remember
especially those who defend us and those who have needs much greater than our own. I hope each
of you can enjoy the Holiday Season with friends and family, and can look forward to a new and
prosperous year.

Shortly after the PAPA Cruise, Chuck Boyle and I discussed the use of LinkedIn as it related to our businesses and networking with our contacts.
Frankly, Focal Plane is represented on LinkedIn through my membership and we have found it helpful. However, like all marketing efforts, I was nowhere near the point of maximum efficiency.
So, I volunteered to explore the use of LinkedIn within our aerial photo organization. And here’s where we are currently. An announcement was made on Chat inviting anyone interested in ex-ploring the use of LinkedIn to join our “Private” group. Private means only active PAPA members and PAPA Corporate Partners are welcome. Discussion will generally be limited to the use of LinkedIn for those of us who are users. In no way meant to replace or run parallel to Chat, eViews or the general distribution of PAPA membership general information.
