New Features – Responsive Web

Dateline support

In this code release, the responsive site implements the Dateline

Feature -- at this moment available to VOA sites only but can be

enable to other entities on request. This feature allows editor to

add a dateline to the articles. When creating/updating an article

in Pangea CMS, users will see a field where can be added the

appropriate Dateline text.

On Responsive site the text

will be displayed at the

beginning of the body text

of the article in the format

of DATELINE — Body

copy.

Hide download links for Video & Audio

Since this release, once an audio or video is

available on responsive site, the option of

download link (Direct Link) will display or

hide according to the settings in CMS

Video Clips:

When uploading videos in CMS, the option

show download link will be respected by

the responsive site, meaning if un -selected

the Download (direct link) option will be

disable.

Audio Clips

When uploading audios in

CMS, the option hide links

will now be respected on the

responsive site, meaning if

un-selected the Download

(direct link) option will be

disable.

Multiple Tubes Video Navigation

If website has two or three tubes, we use new layout in Video navigation, allowing the users to see all tubes

(channels) available for that specific service.

Tealium download event for HTML5 and Flash media players

We’ve extended the HTML5 and Flash player to support download events

for analytical purposes

New Features – CMS & core apps

New watermark and video branding for RFE

During this release our design team was working on the new branding for RFE/RL videos. Part of the scope

were the new watermarks in CMS. New Watermark is available in CMS for uploaded videos. To use it, just

choose watermark for the video on Video Edit Page and new watermark will be applied:

Slider gallery

We are pleased to introduce a new content type in CMS called “Slider Gallery”. We’ve spent the last two

development cycles to develop and test this new feature.

This new content type is available

as any other photo gallery

layout. To create it choose in Type

of gallery option called “Slide

gallery” as shown on the picture.

In order to create such gallery, all attached pictures have to be uploaded in the same dimensions.

Facebook Open graph on responsive and desktop

For past release cycled we also were working on more sophisticated Open graph integration, for Facebook

and other social media. We have been working on putting all our content on the same level and providing

consistent information across all the content types. We are supporting the same logic both on desktop and

responsive.

For most of our content, we providing to Facebook the following: first social media teaser information,

then teaser information and then main title/description/photo. If any content type doesn't have photo,

we provide the appropriate logo.

Facebook "originally published" link to the uploaded video

For our automated video upload to Facebook we add additional feature and now all videos are published with

link to the original source, the same as we have it for YouTube.

Additional content types for Push Notification

Since this Pangea code release push notifications are using all the content types which are enabled for breaking

news search.

Infographic in Emailer

We are pleased to announce that one of the most popular content types – Infographic -- has been added to the

searched content list in the Emailer. Thus allows editors to promote infographics via newsletter.

Please note that audience upon clicking will be redirected to the URL where infographic is hosted, it’s not

possible to have interactive content replayed within Newsletter itself.
