Pan Troglodyt

es(2.2 Million Years

Ago)

Also known as the common chimpanzee or chimp for short

The pelvis of the chimpanzee was formed in a way which made it easier to walk on all 4 limbs rather than us humans which walk on our two legs

The femur is designed to help function with the pelvis. The chimp’s femur is larger and adjusts better to its pelvis.

The foot of a chimpanzee was designed to grip to trees since that was part of its habitat. As we evolved, we began to lose this trait since it was not necessary anymore.

The rib cage is more expanded and is larger. Over time, evolution took its course and made the rib cage smaller to what it is now.

The skull is very protruding and has a strong brow ridge

Ninety-eight and a half percent similar

Homo Neanderthalensi

s(O.5 Million Years Ago)

O Known for being in the Geico commercial “It’s so easy a caveman can do it!”

O Resembles more of a chimpanzee rather than a man.

O Has less distinct characteristics, and is becoming more human like

O Pelvis and femur have both evolved allowing humans to walk on two feet

O Rib cage is still broad but has reduced slightly in size

O The skull has become more human like but it still resembles a chimp and the brow ridge is still very distinct.

Homo Sapiens(25,000 Years

Ago)

O Has the closest characteristics to present day humans

O The skull resembles the facial feature of modern humans

O The pelvis has allowed them to walk properly like we do now

O Foot resembles ours today

O Rib cage has minimized over time and is slightly larger than the one we have today.
