At Easter we celebrate not only Jesus’ resurrection but our own.

Eternal life is God’s Easter gift to us.

How we live our lives is our gift back to God.

This year our special Easter Offering will be dedicated to two purposes: improving our sanctuary projection and

sound equipment and supplementing our general budget.

The upgraded suspended projection system will make power points on Sunday brighter and clearer. The added ad-vantage is that there will be no power cords on the floor which presently create a nuisance.

The First Baptist Church of Saint Paul, Minneso-

ta is working in partnership with the Dawei Myeik Karen Baptist Churches Association of the Karen Baptist Churches of Myanmar developing classes in English lan-guage training. We are intending to annually send three teachers from Minnesota to teach and work with stu-dents on basic English language skills and conversational English. The students range in age from 5th grade through college.

This year we are sending three church members Cecilia Oberg, Giri Kasuh and Mishiah Toe. They have committed themselves to this mission, are well educated and looking forward to this experience. They will also be leading in music and sports activities. They have volun-teered to teach during the month of April 2017. They plan to arrive in Myanmar in late March and depart in early May.

There will be a dedication of these short term mission-aries on Sunday, March 26th at the ten and twelve o’clock worship services.

Please be in prayer for Cecilia, Giri and Mishiah as they prepare lessons and travel to Myanmar.

The latest Baby Celebration was held on Febru-

FBC hosted a Karen parenting group on Satur-

days in early 2017. we had seven women who were con-sistently involved in the group, and they have told us that it was helpful for them and for their families. In particular, they said that they learned new strategies for praising and disciplining their children that they think can be especially helpful here in U.S.

This group would absolutely not have been pos-sible without your support. A Closer Walk

The Kingdom of God

Seek first God’s Kingdom and right-eousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

Imagine sitting on the hillside with the disciples listening to Jesus teach: God blesses us when we:

1. are poor in spirit (have God’s grace and love in our hearts).

2. mourn (let others know when we’re hurting and in pain).

3. are meek (give God control of our life). 4. hunger (are able to know God and God’s will for our

life). 5. merciful (become sensitive to others’ pain). 6. pure in heart (are honest with God and others). 7. peacemakers (keep the channels of communication

open with others). 8. are persecuted (are willing to suffer and stand for

what’s right). This is taken from Matthew 5:1 to 12 which are now called The Beatitudes. These are qualities that de-scribe people who are a part of the Kingdom of God. Each quality is followed by a promise. Jesus is telling his disci-ples what they must do in order to be a disciple. When we look at the list of qualities, some are easier to follow than others. Jesus says in verse 12, “Rejoice and be glad, be-cause great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” The promises God gives us starts with: for theirs is the Kingdom of God. God also promises us that we will be: comforted, inherit the earth, be filled, shown mercy, see God, called children of God, and again God says, “for theirs is the kingdom of God.” I used to think that the Kingdom of God was in heaven. I now know that every person who believes is part of the Kingdom of God. It is here on earth now. God is calling each one of us to follow Jesus and be like Jesus in our daily lives. Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. In verse 16, Jesus says, “let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and praise God in heaven.”
