Pastor’s Desk:

Greetings to all! I just want to thank Rebecca and Sean Brown and Brook, [Rebecca’s friend] for repairing our sound system. Now our mike on the Ambo and the altar is working. I heard it was very involved to find the problem in the system. It entails crawling underneath the church and checking the cable wire that connects to the system. But eventually through their efforts and perseverance they have located the problem. Thank you! And also on Wednesday, we had to buy a new phone in our rectory office as the phone finally stopped working. If you were wondering why we never answered the phone during the office hours, it’s because the phone itself ceased to function with new batteries. And I would like to thank Peter Quistgard, our local plumber for repairing the leaks in the kitchen sink and as well as repairing the leaks in my bathroom. Now, I can use my shower rather than going downstairs to take shower. And most of all he donated his time and service fixing the problems. THANKS! And also I want to thank Pat Green, our local electrician for fixing the electrical problem we had in the rectory washer and dryer machine and now I am able to wash my clothes. And he also donated his time and service to the church. Praise God! This Sunday is Palm Sunday or Passion Sunday, two liturgies in one day that is why we have two gospel readings. One that proclaims Jesus’ entrance to Jerusalem which is the Palm Sunday celebration and during the Liturgy of the Word, the gospel reading is the Passion of Christ, to commemorate Passion Sunday. The celebration of the Passion Sunday starts the Holy Week, [Triduum]. I would like to invite all of you to participate in the celebration of this great liturgy and experience the full of effect of the Easter Season. Peace and blessings! Fr. Luis HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE

Holy Thursday Mass starts 5:30 p.m. followed by SEDER MEAL, @ 6:30 p.m. Good Friday service starts with STATION OF THE CROSS at 1 p.m. then followed by Adoration of the cross and Eucharist at 2 p.m. Holy Saturday Easter Vigil at 5 p.m. Easter Sunday mass at St. Elizabeth @ 9 am. And at St. Coleman at 11 a.m. Liturgical Music Corner by our Music Director, Rebecca Brown March 29, Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Palm Sunday begins Holy Week, the holiest week in the church’s calendar. Today we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The celebrating people in Jerusalem laid down their cloaks in front of Jesus, and also palm leaves and small branches of trees, showing that they considered him worthy of the highest honor. Today we also hear the reading of the Passion and death of Jesus. Only one week earlier the people were welcoming Jesus as a King; now they wanted to crucify Him. Our hymns this week help us to reflect on the mystery of the cross, Jesus’s institution of the Eucharist, His example of service as He washed his disciples’ feet, His suffering and death, and finally His victory over sin and death. Bring your bells to ring during the Gloria on Holy Thursday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday!

Palm Sunday: Songs for the 9 am Mass: Processional Hymn: The King of Glory (BB # 738) Psalm 22: My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Gospel Acclamation: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory. Preparation of Gifts: Near the Cross (choir) Communion Song: Behold the Lamb of God (BB #156) Recessional Song: Jesus Remember Me (BB #412) Holy Thursday of the Lord’s Supper, 5:30 pm Processional Hymn: Glory in the Cross (BB # 724) Gloria in excelsis Deo, gloria, gloria! Gloria in excelsis Deo, et in terra, terra pax. Psalm 116: Our blessing cup is a communion with the Blood of Christ. Gospel Acclamation: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory. Washing of the Feet: Ubi Caritas (BB # 482 ) Preparation of Gifts: The Servant Song (BB # 374) Communion Song: Taste and See (BB # 332) Recessional Song: Pange Lingua Gloriosi (BB pp. 109 - 110) The liturgies for Holy Week are rich in imagery and symbols: cross, candles, incense, water, light. We have diligently prepared beautiful music to make these liturgies musically rich and prayerful. The choir will provide music for all the Holy Week Liturgies, including Holy Thursday (5:30 pm), Good Friday (1 pm), Holy Saturday (5 pm) and Easter Sunday morning. Let us invite our family, friends, neighbors and coworkers to church. An invitation may be all they need! God bless you!

We are planning a little Easter treat for children attending Easter mass. We are also planning an entry in Stumptown Daze parade, need vehicle, trailer, decorations and volunteers May 16. Our First Communion and Confirmation students will participate in an entry entitled “May is the Month of Mary.” We will have open house at the church after the parade. If you would like to help call Irene at 707-486-9683.
