“PALM SUNDAY” APRIL 4 - 5, 2020 // Jeremiah Ramer, CPC Minister FAMILY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. What do you think keeps people from crowning Jesus as king? 2. Who are the people or what are the things in your life that you have crowned as your king? 3. Why did Jesus ride into Jerusalem on a donkey instead of a mighty steed? 4. In what ways are you struggling to find peace right now? 5. In a season where peace is hard to find, how can crowning Jesus as your king bring peace? GOING DEEPER On Palm Sunday weekend we look at the celebration of Jesus as King. Everyone coming to Jerusalem for the Passover feast had heard of Him. So when the disciples asked for a colt because “The Lord needed it”, the owner gladly turned the colt over to them. 1. READ Luke 19:28-36 . a. Jesus specifically told the disciples to go and get a colt. Look at Zechariah 9:9 to see the prophecy was Jesus fulfilling. 2. READ Luke 19:37-38 and Psalm 118:25-26 a. Again we see prophecy being fulfilled. Why was it important that Jesus fulfill the Old Testament prophesies about the coming Messiah? 3. READ Luke 19:41-42 a. Why do you think Jesus wept? What did they not understand? TO FIND PEACE, YOU MUST CROWN JESUS AS YOUR KING The people who were praising God for giving them a king had the wrong idea about Him. When it became apparent that Jesus was not going to meet their expectations, they quickly turned against Him. “if you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace…”. In a season filled with so much unknown, it is difficult to find peace. Now more than ever, we must remember to crown Jesus as King in our lives. He made the ultimate sacrifice so we could have peace and rest for our souls. COMMIT TO MEMORY “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30

FAMILY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. What do you think keeps people from crowning Jesus as king? 2. Who are the people or what are the things in your life that you have crowned

as your king? 3. Why did Jesus ride into Jerusalem on a donkey instead of a mighty steed? 4. In what ways are you struggling to find peace right now? 5. In a season where peace is hard to find, how can crowning Jesus as your king

bring peace?

GOING DEEPER On Palm Sunday weekend we look at the celebration of Jesus as King. Everyone coming to Jerusalem for the Passover feast had heard of Him. So when the disciples asked for a colt because “The Lord needed it”, the owner gladly turned the colt over to them.

1. READ Luke 19:28-36. a. Jesus specifically told the disciples to go and get a colt. Look at

Zechariah 9:9 to see the prophecy was Jesus fulfilling. 2. READ Luke 19:37-38 and Psalm 118:25-26
