THE CELEBRATION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST
Palm Sunday
The liturgy of the palms We will gather in front of the church for the Blessing of the Palms.
Celebrant Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. People Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.
Celebrant Let us pray. Assist us mercifully with your help, O Lord God of our salvation, that we may enter with joy upon the contemplation of those mighty acts, whereby you have given us life and immortality; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Mark 11:1-11 When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, `Why are you doing this?' just say this, `The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.'" They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, some of the bystanders said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?" They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it. Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,
"Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!"
Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
The Celebrant then says the following blessing: The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
It is right to praise you, Almighty God, for the acts of love by which you have redeemed us through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. On this day he entered the holy city of Jerusalem in triumph, and was proclaimed as King of kings by those who spread their garments and branches of palm along his way. Let those branches be for us signs of his victory, and grant that we who bear them in his name may ever hail him as our King, and follow him in the way that leads to eternal life; who lives and reigns in glory with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. 1

NEEDED: Teens to help hide eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt next Sunday. If you would like to help, be at church by 9am.
Hiding the eggs is almost as much fun as looking for them!
There are small green collection boxes in the Narthex and the Admin. Offices marked “Harvest for Hospitality.” At the 2015 Diocesan Convention, a resolution was passed
asking each diocesan household to give $50 in support of the campaign. This dollar amount symbolizes the average farmworkers’ labor to harvest two tons of
sweet potatoes. The goal for The Diocese of East Carolina is $100,000.

Lenten Offering for Millennium
Development Goals
We take advantage of our access to clean drinking water. Most of us go to the faucet and get a glass of clean fresh water several times a day and never give the first thought to the importance of water. We have become so accustomed to having it, we rarely think about what our lives would be like, if we had to struggle to find water that was even halfway safe to drink. Sadly, in many other countries across the globe, this a problem
that is all too real. They are forced to drink water from rivers, streams, watering holes, and other water sources that are more than likely diseased or polluted. They are forced, often times, to bathe and cook with this same dirty water.
At the recent convention of the Diocese of East Carolina the Millennium Development Goals Committee gave a 5 gallon bucket to each congregation encouraging them through the season of Lent to ask people to place their coins or bills into the bucket. At the end of
Lent all monies will be returned to the diocese and sent to Episcopal Relief and Development for their clean water initiatives. Please be generous in your response.
Our bucket is located on a table to your right as you exit the church.
Don’t forget to feed your Hope Chest for Episcopal Relief and Development. We will collect the boxes next Sunday.
Unseen Guest News
When you prepare meals for your family, make a little extra for Jesus- the Unseen Guest at your table. Trays for packaging meals are available in the
Unseen Guest Pantry. Just note on the top what is inside the tray and the date you packaged it. Freeze and return to the church at your convenience!
The Unseen Guest Ministry is in need of volunteers to hand out food on Tues. and Thurs. mornings from 10am-noon. If you are able to give
one morning a month, please call or email the church office. If you are able to ‘sub’ on occasion, please notify us as well.
There is a poster in the Parish Hall with information about Cooking/Packing Days. Our next Packing Day will be Saturday, April 25th, beginning at 9am.
The menu will be turkey, sweet potatoes and green beans. Pick up a post-it note off the poster and return your item the week before the Packing Day. If you have any questions, contact Nancy Hunnicutt at 333-8776.

The Onslow Women’s Center. The Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 7-9pm, and will
feature a fashion show, guest speakers and games and door prizes. A portion of the $25 ticket is tax deductible.
On the bulletin board you will also find a list of supplies that the Women’s Center is always in need of. You may bring your items to the church, and we will see that they get to the right place!

If you or your child(ren) would like to serve as an acolyte, call the church office and let us know. We will be scheduling a training session after Easter. Children as young as 5 years old
can be Gospel Bearers. What a wonderful way to be involved in the service on Sunday!
Also, the choir is always looking for voices! No auditions, minimal practice time, and you don’t even have to read music! We warm up in the choir room Sundays at 9:30am-join us!
If you have taken an Acolyte robe home for any reason, please return in to the vesting room as soon as possible. It seems that a few of our vestments have wandered off!

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens--wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught. I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard; I did not hide my face from insult and spitting. The Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame; he who vindicates me is near. Easter Day ~ April 5th
St. Anne’s community of faith will gather in the Parish Hall after the 8 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services to celebrate our Lord’s resurrection.
These will be Potluck Events. Please bring finger foods ready to serve (i.e., sliced or cooked and on trays/plates/platters).
Following is a list of suggested items: Ham Biscuits, Mini Quiche, Cheese & Crackers, Assorted Breads (Muffins, Coffee Cakes, Donuts, Danish), Deviled Eggs, Cookies, Quartered Sandwiches (Peanut Butter, Pimento Cheese, Chicken Salad, Open Face Cucumber), Fresh Fruit and/or Veggies.
Drop your items off in the kitchen on your way to the service. Please mark your name clearly on anything you want returned.
The Good Friday Offering
Since 1922, Episcopalians have supported the ministries of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East through the Good Friday Offering. Through the work of the Episcopal
dioceses in the Middle East, Christians maintain a peacemaking and stabilizing presence in the region, serving their neighbors regardless of faith background.
To make a donation to the Good Friday Offering, please write a check payable to The Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society, write "Good Friday Offering" in the memo line, and place in the
collection plate or bring it to the church office any time during Holy Week. Thank you.
Visitors are ALWAYS welcome!
We are thankful that you are worshiping with us today. You are invited to complete the “Guest Invitation” found in the pew rack.

Please welcome the Rev. Thomas Midyette, our Celebrant and preacher today. He has served at numerous churches in the Diocese of North Carolina and the Diocese of East Carolina including St. Stephen’s in Goldsboro, St. Paul’s in Clinton, St. Paul’s in
Beaufort and St. Paul’s in Greenville. He is also an accomplished musician, serving as organist and choir director at St. Andrew’s in Morehead City. He is married to Peg Herman Midyette,
and has a daughter, Meg. (He is also a cousin of parishioner Pat Kennedy.)
