ObituaryEB as he was affectionately known, was born the first child of the late Mr. Edward B. McCoy Sr. and Mrs. Gussie Reid McCoy on July 26, 1941. After a brief illness, EB went home to be with the lord on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Doctors Hospital.
EB was educated in the Richmond County School System.
At an early age, EB was baptized at Cumming Grove Baptist Church where he often utilized his carpentry skills and served until the decline of his health.
EB was a native of Augusta, Georgia.
EB embodied the God given talent of carpentry and considered himself a master builder. He was also the owner and operator of McCoy Building Service. EB has built several beautiful houses in the CSRA.
EB had several hobbies; sketching, reading and golfing. However, golfing was his favorite. He was a player as well as a professional caddie. EB caddied his first Masters Tournament at the age of 17 for Herman Keiser. Two of his fondest moments were winning the Masters Tournament with champion Gary Player in 1974 and 1978.
EB was a caring, mild-mannered, compassionate man that loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grand-father, brother, neighbor, and friend.
EB leaves to cherish his fondest memories: a loving wife, Sadie B. McCoy, Augusta, Georgia; seven dedicated children, Bridget (George) Williams, Jr., Augusta, Georgia, Terri L. McCoy, Atlanta, Georgia, Drs. Ericka (Kevin) Edmonds, College Park, Georgia, Edward B. McCoy III, Chadwick McCoy, Augusta, Georgia, Marla Choice, Evans, Georgia and Carla Choice, Augusta, Georgia; two devoted siblings, Andrena (Leon) Carpenter, Augusta, Georgia and Carl (Georgetta) McCoy, Bogart, Georgia; seven caring grandchildren, Keila McCoy, Atlanta McCoy, Farron Edmonds, Skylar Edmonds, Shaheed McCoy, Caitlin Choice and Jailin Lewis; one dear great granddaughter, Journey Moore; two committed sisters-in-law, Lillie Mae (Freddie) Herrington and Joan (Willie) Nicely; one loyal brother-in-law, Ike (Susie) Choice; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
