Jennifer Baird (also known as Jenny Hilton-Clarke), was born in England but lived for over 30 years on the tiny unspoiled island of Tobago, in the West Indies, where she resided as a recluse, high in the wild and remote rain forest - painting and meditating and living an extremely simple life without electricity, plumbing or mod cons. She now lives in England. Jennifer has been painting all her life and has exhibited many times in Trinidad and Tobago and produced a diverse array of works over the last 40 years, ranging from the scenic to the deeply mystical and visionary. The influence of many cultures, mythologies, philosophies and metaphysical ideas can be seen weaving a continuum through her work; but most important and influential are the direct experiences and insights which arose from living primitively and alone in wild and completely natural surroundings, spending many hours a day in meditation and spiritual practice. Her paintings have a pictorial language which holds together the strands of meaning, symbol and feeling.

Jennifer Baird ( también conocida como Jenny Hilton- Clarke), nació en Inglaterra, pero vivió durante más de 30 años en la pequeña isla virgen de Tobago, en las Antillas, donde residía como una reclusa, en la alta selva salvaje y remota – pintando, meditando y viviendo una vida muy sencilla, sin electricidad, fontanería o comodidades. Ahora vive en Inglaterra. Ha estado pintando toda su vida y ha expuesto muchas veces en Trinidad y Tobago, produciendo una amplia gama de trabajos en los últimos 40 años, que van desde la pintoresca hasta la profunda mística y visionaria.La influencia de muchas culturas, mitologías, filosofías e ideas metafísicas se puede ver tejiendo una continuidad a través de su trabajo, pero, lo más importante e influyente, son las experiencias directas e ideas que surgieron de vivir primitivamente y sola en un entorno salvaje y totalmente natural, pasando muchas horas del día en la meditación y la práctica espiritual. Sus pinturas tienen un lenguaje pictórico que mantiene unidas las hebras de significado, símbolo y sentimiento.
