Bryant Park Painter in Residence ProgramBryant Park Corporation invites applicants to participate in the seventh annual Painter in Residence Program for the purpose of creating representational imagery of Bryant Park. The artwork will be a visual record of Bryant Park from an artist’s perspective. A maximum of two artists will be selected to paint outdoors in Bryant Park for two week periods each as follows:

Program 1 – August 19 – August 30

Program 2 – September 2 – September 13

These artworks are commissioned by Bryant Park Corporation and become the company’s sole and exclusive property.

Program Details:

Subject matter: Landscapes and iconic features of Bryant ParkSchedule: Monday – Friday (cancelled in case of rain; rescheduled with approval of Bryant Park program manager)Stipend: $1250 per week plus one-time supplemental fund of up to $500 for materials. Amount for materials will be confirmed with receipts.Application deadline: July 22Announcement of Painter in Residence award: August 5

Eligibility:

The competition is open to all U.S. citizens. Minimum age to participate is 18. Any artwork submitted for consideration must have been completed in the last two years. Though representational styles will be given preference, innovative and experimental approaches are welcome. Likewise, art using either traditional or alternative media will be accepted. The submitted art will be juried by a group comprised of selected BPC sta� members and select members of New York City’s arts community.

Application Process and Required Materials:

All applications must include the following:

• an artist statement • a resume or CV outlining education, awards, artistic shows, and relevant reviews of work • a completed application form (pages 3 & 4 of this document)

Applications must also include images of the candidate’s work in JPEG format (see Artwork Submission Requirements below). Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Artists may apply by email or by U.S mail.

The electronic copies of all application materials (including completed application, artistic statement, resume or CV, and samples of your work) must be saved onto one standard CD, DVD or USB formatted for PC. Please write your name, address, phone number and email address on the CD, DVD or USB. Please do not submit slides or print photographs with this application. All CD’s, DVD’s or USB’s become the property of the Bryant Park Corporation. Unfortunately, we cannot return any materials submitted to the Bryant Park Corporation.
